Transfer Rumour Luis Diaz

Well he also directly contributed to 14 goals in 26 games played, so you know, swings and roundabouts

Talented player, but practically anyone with half a clue could have told you that the only manager around who'd push for that sort of deal would be Ancelotti - and what happens when that manager leaves?

You either build your team around him, or you don't. Ancelotti did, he contributed (but arguably also made us susceptible defensively), but what happens when you employ a manager who won't indulge a player who can't run and is only fit for half a season? At that point you question the logic of having made the decision to pay him £10m a year in the first place.

You don't have to build your team around one player

Ancelotti made that mistake

Rafael doesn't have to

Decisions like this over the past 5 years are exactly why we are where we are financially

Correct.

But the context of the entire thing meaning we may have a winger of the highest standard for 5 years + is surely worth it.
It’s not us committing to 5 years of Bolasie at £80,000 or 5 years of Sigurdsson at £120,000.

Got to have a competitive balance and hope that it’s be a good reward I. The long term.

I like Diaz mate but I'm not sure he can be classed as that yet.

He'd be a gamble.

And people say James was a let down. Well if we got Diaz and he scored/assisted 14 goals next season we'd be buzzing. But that deal could cost us 30m plus paying a big chunk of James' wage?
