What I don't get is, if this guy is a Walsh target, and apparently he is as they're are news articles dating back to when he was still at Leicester linking Perez with them, he'd have known his release clause is €20m which is what Ornstein is saying how Arsenal have beaten us to the deal.

So why would we have gone in with €17m and not €20m?!

Think we did offer the 20m Euros, at any rate the deal with the club didn't seem to be the issue as they accepted both ours and (eventually) Arsenal's offers.

Stumbling block appears to have been that the player preferred Arsenal.

its 17 million pound mate, which is €20m

The last couple of reports I read said that a deal had been agreed around £16mill (this is less than his release clause). Theres that many reports you dont know who to believe.

My point is though if he really was our first choice, with a reasonable release clause, he'd have been signed by now.

His agent would hold up any deal touting him around to get the best deal for his client, in this case it paid off.

I know it's irrational, and football is not as simple as I imagine, but it grates me to see us getting jibbed off for the likes of Arsenal. They aren't even a big club. Perennial failures, an outdated manager, a silver spooned Tory fanbase and legends like Ian Wright and Tony feckin Adams.

...and Thierry Henry, Bergkamp, Viera, Ljungberg...

I mean, I don't like them at all, but to say that's all of their legends is a bit... silly, surely?

Spot on about the fanbase though/failures though.
