Everton And Australia Star Lucas Neill Robbed - Goal.com

Lucas Neill has become the second Socceroo in as many months to be robbed in England, after burglars broke into his house and stole his belongings.

A report in the Herald Sun claims Neill’s car was also stolen – though found later – the incident one of many in which English Premier League stars are now being targeted.

Just recently, Neill’s Everton teammate Phil Jagielka was robbed at knife-point at his home, after Blackburn Rovers midfielder Vince Grella suffered the same fate only a month earlier.

Saw that yesterday.

Really is awful, but it'll happen, cause they've got a stupid amount of money.

I think the next time either Everton or Liverpool are away, the local police should put a few officers in each home and just wait. It would only be a matter of time before someone breaks in and has a happy surprise waiting for them.

After the publicity of some home invaders being arrested on the spot, I doubt it would happen much after that.

If the police don't want to spend the resources, I don't see why a player wouldn't pay someone to "house sit" while their away. At least they know some people would be at their home.

The only problem is, in this country anyone trying to defend a property with anything more menacing than a wet lettuce would be crushed under the full weight of the law. It's all geared to be soft on crime, tough on victims. I think Michigan (for example) is much the same...

I got charged , which was later dropped , when attacking a would be burgler who was attempting to break into my house. The law is a joke when it comes to incidents like this.

The unfortunate thing is its only a matter of time before a players wife/girlfriend or god-forbid son/daughter gets hurt in one of these robberies. I thought they all lived in "gated" communities and such.
