I know how you feel about him haha, I would be interested to see some posts from the time and did your resentment start when he had that incident with Martinez. Baines was class,no rewriting history, one of our best ever LBs probably outside of title winning teams.

maybe Distin and Pienaar did help him but he still performed.
yes, that incident certainly blotted Bainesy's copybook...but Capt Jags' lead role in undermining Bobby's attempt at having us playing like a team from Camelot, should not be overlooked...

Why do this, easy to forget Baines was probably the best left back in europe in his prime, had more assists than most wingers and was absolutely a joy to watch with Pienaar. I love Digne really think he's a special player but why try to detract from Bainesy and his performances. Not one poster on here bar @davek would have swapped Baines in his prime.

Just like my opinion init mate

It's not a slight on Baines either, I think he was one of the world's best attacking fullbacks circa 2010-2013.

If anything it just highlights just how highly I think of Digne.

Fair play, Digne is a great player I hope he is as long here as Baines if he's playing like he is and he looks a consistent player, mightily impressed with him so far.
