Long Read : How modern football became broken beyond repair

No one is arsed if Liverpool go play in the Euro Super League - only the club owners care because their club values will drop.

Not one Everton, Villa, Newcastle, Sheffield Utd, Leeds, Sunderland, West Ham, Wolves etc supporter will give a toss because they support their club and will do whether the standard of the league is great or akin to the championship.

Please go and take the other 4 or 5 clubs at the top with you. You'll soom get tired when Klopp leaves, you appoint Gerrard and get battered week in week out by the top sides in Europe backed by oil money and Spanish/Middle Eastern government.
The standard of football would be a lot lower. This would turn off a lot of people.

Let's not confuse 'lower standard' for more passionate, more exciting and more competitive.
The Championship is infinitely more exciting than the Premier League. Look at this season for example. After 75% of the season played, every club has either a chance of going up or going down.
Try telling any of their fans that their league is less enjoyable.

Liverpool do not care where there ”fans” herald from. If they could get 60,000 different people into the ground every game that would be ideal for them and their model. Yes it would kill that local identity but do you really think the yanks give one?

Most clubs would be happy with killing all but a superficial idea of local identity, including ours. If you want to promote the game to a worldwide audience, old histories are messy. You want to play on the past to increase the story and the drama but you don't actually want Don't Buy The Sun campaigns, ex-players you can't control, images of hooligans, political actions within the city (especially Liverpool teams).
There is no doubt that football will move more and more this way as we get closer to an American style of sporting infrastructure. Reds v Blues is much easier to control than the narrative of over 100 years of history, much complicated and not easily PRd

For glory hunting clowns who've never been a game with their footballing life revolving around watching the game on a stream and gloating on football forums / social media maybe.

But for real fans who travel up and down the country with their kids - nah. We'll be fine whilst all the scouse and Manc Reds at school never get to go an away game because their dads cant afford regular trips to Barcelona or Turin.

See how long the novelty lasts.

But lower quality and as slow as anything. Drab 0-0 draws. A tough sell to broadcasters to bring in money.

It would essentially be as exciting as the spl

Poor quality games, no thanks.

But the great thing is that utter creeps like you could go and mingle with all the other virgins while the rest of us enjoy a proper, competitive football league where a trophy is won and not bought.

I’ve been thinking of binning Sky Sports for a bit and your post has convinced me. nea if we’re on live anymore tbh. That, along with the never ending stream of ex RS pundits. Oh, and the endless betting adverts.
It just takes this to snowball and the common man will get his sport back.

@havrey0123 is definitely the middle finger king. lol

One good season in decades and Kopites heads are so far up their own asses that they will probably never see daylight again, well until next season when the one season wonder is a distant memory anyway. ;)

The article in the OP is spot on imo.

Let the top four go from our league every week for me, let them pay themselves a billion pound a year, just don't let them back in our league, when they've gone, under any circumstances. Who cares what they win, if they win or lose, they won't be in our league.

Would you also like for there to be no 'promotion' to the super League? That's what I would like. No subordination
