and apart from the usual political stuff, at the least the Guardian said this... “The ambition of Truss and her chancellor, Kwasi Kwarteng, to go for growth might well be a laudable one, given the intense pressure on households amid the cost of living crisis. But it should not be controversial to point out that the task is easier said than done.” Basically the idea was right but it’s implementation was terrible…and you’ll get no arguments from me.

What we now have is ‘stability’ or in other words decline and ‘austerity 2.0’….but if that’s what you want…..

Actually, Hitler introduced some wonderful economic policies in Germany, which enabled him to build such a large army.

Economically speaking, points would have to be taken off for the whole killing millions and invading most of Europe.

Not at all, she made a complete mess of her mini budget in pushing it too far and not communicating it widely beforehand. But now we have taxation for all (stability) as opposed to reduced taxation (growth). Either done properly would be a win, but both have pushed too far. One the markets didn’t like, the other doesn’t upset the markets but taxes the crap out of people…. Which do you prefer ?

Does backing out of europe costing billions of pounds, the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs and the 'guilty by association' covid massacre (without mentioning the many frauds) equate to serious harm done by the tory high command?

And how would that help you. Energy companies were already being taxed and have to spend Billions to invest in new fields, it doesn’t come for free. What Bankers make or don’t will have almost no effect upon the tax take, unless they earn even more and generate more taxes. Reduction in investment or banking activity just reduces the size of the cake. It’s all peanuts compared to the money everyone is now going to pay.…..
