Living in Uk -- dont make me laugh !!

Why do you say that mate? I mean, i don't agree with the OP but isn't Asia, particularly China on the rise now? Whereas the West is on its arse, i thought economically the East was on the up?

Without a doubt it is on the up financially and the far east only has it's best days ahead rather than behind them.

But that is completely sacrificed for quality of life. No green spaces, major competition for the youth in education meaning continual study, office life that average 12 hours a day. the countries are on the up and perhaps England could learn a trick to copy it to an extent, but the growth is happening too quickly for people to appreciate the good things in life.

Thanks mate for the explanation. I think things will be fine here and in the west in time - just its gonna be a long time

It is still a place to go to make money as there is loads sloshing around here.

I'll always be thankful for the opportunity it gave me, but I'm going to spend all my hard earnt back in the UK. So long and thanks for all the fish Asia.

There's nothing more tittish than an ex pat waxing lyrical about how sh*t life in the UK is and how everything is much acer overseas.

I'm sort of an ex-pat and i really miss:

- english breakfasts in caffs
- proper tea (tho' i get Yorkshire sent to me nowadays)
- proper humour (british humour is the funniest in the world)
- genuine world-class culture (top new music, literature, varied newspapers, excellent film & tv etc)
- the true spontaneous hedonistic energy when out partying
- proper football-mad atmosphere when watching games
- real smooth ale
- bunch of other stuff too

sometimes, on balance, the grass can be greener in foreign lands...but they'll always be important significant things in which ol' blighty will always be better than any other country in the world.

Disappointed that Zatara felt the need to start a crappy thread...there's a way to talk about british politics without being an immature arse about it.

I know theres lids abroad who would never move back and that's fair enuf, but what's put here is what that melt Zatara doesnt understand.

Sooo mr. Elong I'm proud to be from England and I'm a nationlist and your proud to be from nz and you don't ' wanna open up that nationlism stuff ' again. All I do is denounce exactly what you said, that it is seen as racist to be proud of being English in England. For the record I think your right, that's how I feel its looked at nowadays.

I know what you're saying, I agree mate, you should be able to be proud to be English as well as England.

For the record Reidy's got it, born in UK but lived here over half my life, I guess I consider myself a kiwi more than English with a lot of things, but I always will be of English heritage and proud of it.

It's not just from the forum I get the picture of things not being as rosey as they once were, but that's also the rose tinted glasses thing as well. I'd love to go back again, and will, but I doubt I'd ever live there again. This place really is wonderful and you'd be mad not to spend some time here.

I'm not sure if the British Labour is like the Australian Labour but they certainly do have a history of stuffing up the economy. Granted Australia is probably in a better financial situation than GB but why would you give away $900 to everyone so they can buy plasma TV's made in China for?

Bundy, do you realise we have the strongest economy in the World, thanks to Labour?

Australia has the strongest economy in the developed world and it is expected to outperform all comers for at least the next two years, according to the International Monetary Fund.

Labour = Working Class
Coalition = Rich People

Either side has it's pros and cons, but the facts are Coalition works for the Wealthy, and will always take whatever they can from the poorest people.

Labour gave everybody a rebate of $900 to spend on whatever they wanted to. Only a Wealthy guy with no need for $900 would say that was a bad thing.

The Coalition are just well Jel.
