Barkley is a nailed on red here, especially when ref sees it back.

I'd get him off now for kev and push calvert-lewin to left where baines has got forward but been isolated.

So next season we need an entire new defence really

well, before last week it was a centre back and possibly a backup left back, but with coleman and mori being out for a long long while it could mean we need to buy 3 or 4 defenders now ffs. We needed to concentrate on buying a handful of new attackers. As shown by today, we have no goal threat bar lukaku, there's no goals in this team if we take him out.

I was hoping Pennington would grow into his role after the goal but he hasn't come to terms with Coutinho. I think it's harsh to slate him too much after he's been slung into a game like this, but he needs to come off.

We're definitely not ending this game with 11 men either.
I'm not mad because it's his first big game. But fair is fair and he has been terrible :(
Barkley has also been absolute clownshoes today. He is not up for it

My day is shocking my (former) local in Brighton is full of reds@&£) with flags! Flags! Ffs I've got a few blues with me praying for a better second half

two poor teams who can't defend (bar lovren) so far. Don't deserve to be losing, but i think after 15 minutes koeman should have swapped pennington for jagielka. Two inexperinced defenders next to eachother, whilst our two most experienced on the other side is a mistake imo. I also think mirallas should be there ahead of DCL personally and hopefully that change will be made at HT.

I hate these commentators who have never played the game saying barkley should be sent off, it wasn't a tackle at all, it's a contact sport, accidents are going to happen like that, he didn't leave the bloody foot in, there was nowhere else his foot could actually be.
I'm with you if only Gary Neville had some experience in playing football and had actually won something then at least you could listen to his opinions...

Looked at jags as whistle went at half time. Strolled off field head down. Never my captain. Not a leader of men. A real captain needs to show leadership. His team have been too soft. Tackling has been poor. Late challanges in wrong areas of pitch when no need and no tackles at the defensive end when needed.
This is part of our problem in these scenarios. We always, as others have stated, just give the captaincy to the oldest player who has been around the longest. We need to give it to the most intelligent/passionate player.

Pennington is lost back there so get him off for Barry who i don't understand if we are sitting deep isn't playing in the team.

I'd get Kev or Valencia on aswell for DCL, the lad is too raw still and we need some experience out there to drag us back in this, been absolutely horrendous and still only 1 down.

Koeman needs to sort his head out though some of his tactical decisions at times are baffling.

Pennington shoving Holgate out of the way while running away from the ball, not even looking at Coutinho for the first goal. Having a 'mare. Go back 4 with Holgate on the right? Lookman on for Pennington cutting in on his left from the right and get at them? Being overly tactical in the derby doesn't work. Blood and thunder 4-4-2 could be just what we need.
