Liverpool embarrassing themselves and football. (a definitive list)

Yep. If Liverpool fans dont ratchet up the uber ultra stakes for certain high profile games those Juventus thugs dont turn up and look to get involved with them.

They created the seed bed in which that act of thuggery grew in.
The problem is Dave,is that after the families took up the fight for justice a lot of their more unsavoury element picked up the flag, they then use it to hide behind, its used as an excuse to attack fans either psychically or verbally, its used as a shield against any criticism and a club to beat people with, police are wary of taking any action against them for fear of accusations, the press wont speak out,Merseyside police enable their ultra behaviour, the statement from the club after the fountain incident didnt critisize or condemn them, look at the Sean Cox incident were the accusations of a Roma fan emerged only for the pics to vanish and no further mention once it was pointed out it was actually a rs with the said hammer, its fan base are rancid and nobody in authority stops them

I really hate that. Hillsborough was horrifying, we can all agree with that. The 96 and their families deserve justice. Most, if not all, Everton fans agree with that. But I hate it when they play the Hillsborough card and act like it makes them untouchable. And our fans have stood shoulder to shoulder with theirs for years over Hillsborough and they STILL make up lies about Evertonians singing Hillsborough songs.
That comment and the image it evokes has me suddenly thinking the upcoming free porn ban is a good thing :(
Here's some compensation.

@davek summed it up best a year or so ago.

The RS have weaponised Hillsborough.

It is. The authorities are failing to pick up on the undercurrent that's been building amongst Liverpool supporters over the past few years. They've let incidents slide by that are alarming because they'd prefer to not confront it and/or they see it as the actions of fans from a club who are "more than a club" and, therefore, experience things more acutley than fans of other clubs. The football media, in particular, have been persuaded by the Kopites that is the case (that they are a special), and they've fallen for it hook, line and sinker - either willingly or by their own naivety.

Liverpool fans are like any other self-proclaimed group who feel themselves 'special': they act outside of mainstream behavioural norms and consider themselves beyond the censure of others.

This saga ends with only one outcome. History, unfortunately, dictates that it does.
This is exactly the same thing that will be written in an investigation when someone is killed by them.

I agree mate. Omertà is at play here. The media especially fear reprisal attacks if they question the actions of their fans, and it cant be good for their careers when an avalanche of complaints are made against anyone who takes up on objective stance on them.

It's an appalling state of affairs. It's not like with Chelsea or Millwall or Leeds where everyone's in agreement after one of their 'incidents' and condemnation is swift to follow. The sinister element to Liverpool is that their fans have been able to spin together a storyline that has them as being put upon, and any criticism is, in and of itself, seen as reactionary.

Any adequate journalist worthy of the name would be able to disentangle the whole issue and comment with objectivity and handle the consequences. There are hardly any of them left though, and if they are they wont last long. Football is a billion pound industry and when the customers of one of its biggest businesses are as organised as the Kopites are then quietism rules the day.

It'll end in disaster though. We know it will. And then they'll disingenuously wonder how it happened.
