You're arguing the case for Matip to be seen as a no brainer choice as one of the two CBs...you do recognise that, dont you? Zouma from Jan 1st to May earns it just on that count. 'Mr Edgy' knew that but chose an Everton-free team. He's soooooo controversial.
He’s not remotely controversial.

Controversial would be putting someone in who had decent form for a team who finished 8th over a player who played 12 months, won the CL, nearly won the league, won the World Club Cup and ran away with the first half of the league season.

god that description is depressing

Why are you confusing winning a medal with being the best in a position?

Not just winning titles Dave. Record points total too. We all know how important that is.

plus we were pretty poor (particularly in defence) until mid-Feb, so you’re arguing not on 6months, but on 3.

Because they love moving the goalposts, get on the freaks coming to the defence of those scumbags, they're even defending the morals of their fans, sickening.
Do one.

Cant stand the ****ers, but pretending that they’ve been anything other than miles ahead of us on a man for man basis over the last 12 months makes us every bit as detached from reality as they are.

I think what these exchanges show at root is how far some of our fans have been smashed to the ground by the Kopite media, always accepting that Everton are second best to our own afterbirth.

Always? By no means. In all ways? Not at all.

Right now, on the pitch? It’s impossible to sensibly argue otherwise.

Personally I’d say what this exchange shows at root is that you don’t know the difference between “accepting” and “acknowledging”

But it is sensible. How, on the other hand, can it be sensible to meekly accept some 'kin helmet at the Red Echo who throws in Matip as a no brainer? Or to simply accept said helmet's conclusion that hands a place to a pretty scruffy and bog standard LB over and above the undeniable class of Digne? (I guarantee you that if Baines had had Digne's last season then Prentice would have had him in their as one of his XI).

Is Digne a better footballer than Robertson? Quite possibly.

Did Digne have a better 12 months than Robertson? Don’t be stupid.

Is Zouma a better footballer than Matip? My judgement would be yes.

Did Zouma have a better TWELVE months than Matip? Clearly not.
