Lineup vs Arsenal

i'm assuming Barkley & Jagielka will be out injured.....(if they're fit i'd pick them ahead of Stones & Naismith)...

Howard
Coleman Stones Distin Baines
Deulofeu Barry McCarthy Osman
Naismith
Lukaku

I would start with Delefueo and Mirallas and bring Mcgeady on. You saw how he terrorised a tiring defence at the weekend and I think he could be a real asset from the bench this sunday.

second half subs will be massive in this game.....unless arsenal get a few players back, their bench looked weak last weekend.....whereas we can really inject some pace & spark into our team with Mirrallas & McGeady (or deulofeu)...

naismith in behind, lukakau, mirallas and deulfoeu wide.............try and do what liverpool and chelsea did to them early doors, hassle them when in possession and hit them with pace on the break

go with the same starting team as vs Fulham with the only change being McGeady in for Osman tbh, Keep Naismith and Mirrales and Osman on the bench for options to change the game if needed

If Barkley is crocked for it, then go with Kev dropped off

Sorry guys but Ossiew gotta play. McGeady maybe can hold up, link play and do the simple things but really its only Ossie or Pienaar who will make sure our front line isnt receiving the ball and losing it two seconds later.

Theres a lot of simple movement and passing in the buildup that those two do that is important in how we play.

Ossie to start. The rest will be as is...apart from who we select from mcgeady, kev, deulo, naismith and ross. And I think whatever we start with from that lot is fine, because we can change it from the bench.

----------- Howard -------------
Coleman Jags Distin Baines
-----McCarthy-----Barry---------
Mirallas-----Naismith----McGeady
------------Lukaku--------------

Del and Barkley as impact subs would destroy them if need be.

I'd also say that we have to make sure Jags is fully fit. I really wouldn't mind Stones playing instead if he has to.

I think everytime Naismith has played well it's been as an impact sub. Although that line up actually makes me feel all tingly

Howard

Coleman Jagielka Distin Baines

Mirallas Barry Osman Barkley McCarthy

Lukaku

Something like that. If Jags is fit I'd like to see him slot back in personally, could do with his experience with Distin in this one. Naismith, McGeady & Deulofeu good options off the bench.

Keep Stones in the team. He is already better at coming forward and building the play than Jags is, something that will be very important against Arsenal.

McCarthy left midfield.

Remember Jags being immense at the Emirates in the league and although the FA Cup game wasn't really John's fault I still feel like the experience of Jags will suit us better. That said, Stones does seem to get a buzz playing infront of the home crowd so..

Not bad, but possibly too many central midfielders in there and not enough on the left. I would probably drop Osman and have a midfield of Mirallas, Bary, McCarthy and McGeady...pace on each flank and a bit of steel in the middle. Barkley can then play behind Lukaku.
If we need changes, Osman could come on into the centre, Naismith could replace Barkley and Deulofeu could come on either flank to run at the Arsenal back four. Pace is a priority though...in the cup game we were not fast on the flanks (not helped by Pienaar slowing down every attack while waiting for Baines to catch up) and the Arsenal back four soaked it all up. They will however be rattled if we run at them like Liverpool did.

I can't see Mirallas in the middle. Provided these are healthy, this is what I see:

------------------ Howard ------------------
Coleman --- Jagielka --- Distin --- Baines
------------ McCarthy --- Barry ------------
-- Mirallas ------ Naismith ------ Osman --
------------------ Lukaku -------------------

With Barkley, Deulofeu, McGeady as subs coming on
