Sorry, but that makes no sense . Gordon has improved by getting game time in the PL , ok it’s been a slow process with development of his stamina needed etc. If Dobbin is not getting game time his development will be slower , maybe stagnate , yesterday was an ideal time for him to get more minutes alongside DCL . As I said, I don’t believe he’s a PL starter yet , I have no problem if he’s “ being put in and out of the team” as you seem to suggest , but all I’m seeing is the “out” bit and missed opportunities.

Id have played him every time over Rondon.

What im saying is that while Dobbin will be eager to get on the pitch, perhaps Benitez can point to Gordon and say that he's given the correct integration to him and now hes a 'starter' ?

Not saying that is correct but he 'could' say that...also he 'could' point to Branthwaite and say he's just extended and will be getting much more game time.

It may well be that Dobbin goes elsewhere but there 'could' be an argument made by Benitez to stay...its a shame Branthwaite was out last match as i think he'd have played...which could have lent weight to an argument to extend.

After all, Dobbin is 1-2 years younger than those two.

I’ll be honest, If I wasn’t an Evertonian, i’d be down the road if I was this lad. What encouragement has he got to say he’ll break through?

This team under this manager isn’t going anywhere and it seems the owner isn’t budging from the mistake he’s made.

to be fair, he was badly injured for the first 6 months of 2021 and since returning around preseason he’s been named in several 1st team squads and made his debut.
That should be fairly encouraging for him.

What might be slightly more alienating is why his 1st pro contract was only 2.5 years.

That's the maximum

What really annoyed me about the lad not even getting 20 mins was that having Rondon and DCL together just meant more of the same, more or less longish ball hoping for a knockdown against 3 enormous centre backs. This was playing exactly to their strengths. A nippy fast kid might have provided something different and worked on their weaknesses and lack of pace a bit.
Such a shame after his positive cameo v Chelsea.

Everton is the ideal club for Dobbin at the moment.
Just turned 19 today and already has played in the Premiership and should have even more chances as the season develops.

All any young player has to do is look at how the career of Anthony Gordon is developing.

Ironically if Thierry Small had stayed at Everton he may have had chances at left back.

Would like to see Dobbin stay here as he showed an energy when he played that showed promise.

That being said, if he’s seeing Rondon perform in training like you imagine he is doing and still getting a game ahead of him, you’d have to be wondering if Dobbin can wait it out until the manager is gone or if he himself needs to go

I would not hold it against him at all if he chose to leave. Can you imagine how demoralised he must feel watching the manager go back to Rondon again yesterday. It was a slap in the face to him, and everyone at the academy.

What're you smoking

Why would he stay? Honestly. The only thing that could sway this now would be if Benitez is canned and Rondon is demoted/moved on before he agrees elsewhere. Might be too late for that now that it's January.

Wonder why he isn't being provided with much chance while Gordon was provided with regularly. Lack of commitment in training or he isn't still ready? Just curious

We’ve lost in every one of Rondons last 8 appearances so we would literally have had nothing to lose by giving this lad the minutes instead.
And he showed more in half an hour v Chelsea than Rondon has since he’s been here.

Benitez sees them in training though so Dobbin must be absolute mince though apparently

Has nothing to do with Rondon being his mate

Nothing at all
