Player Valuation: £60m
I always accepted the argument made by David Moyes that he would only loan players that he could afterwards buy and it is a very valid argument.
However, with the addition of Barry,Delofeu and Lukaku we have added three players of a quality that normally we simply could never hope to afford.
These players have raised the standard of the squad which will help improve everybody at the club and hopefully give us a chance of winning even more matched in the future.

As I look at it now,it seems to me that clever use of the loan market can help bridge some of the gapat least that exists between the few very wealthy clubs and all the rest.

I think we could hope to afford a 32 year old Barry, and we'll probably sign him for good next year anyway.

But yeah, good point. I personally hate knowing that it's a temporary loan and that's it, but then you could argue that we had the likes of Donovan for a grand total of less than a season and he was still great for us. And in fact the prospect of it being permanent only served to disappoint us -- at least we know we'll never sign Deulofeu, for example.

I'd rather have permanent additions but it's clear to me that there's little wrong with quality additions that otherwise we couldn't bring to the club. The only worry is becoming dependant on them -- West Brom will struggle to replace Lukaku's goals, for example.

I think Moyes stance is right up to a point but then used in the right way it can be crucial for teams like us (paupers). Its dangerous to rely on loans but it took moyes over 10 years to get us to a point where loaning 2 top players could be the final push we need to compete at the very top.
