Player Valuation: £8m
Who do you want to see brought in for our left footed centre back?
When I watched Matteo Ferrari I thought he looked sound, left footed, can play LB, lots of experience. Have since learned he has joined Besiktas a month ago, so slightly gutted there.
I do not rate Upson.
I do not want Dunne back.
I do not want Knight.
Woodgate is ok, and King if he could surgically remove the treatment table could be a goer.
Not sure on Samba.
Cahill (Bolton) looks a possible prospect.
Hangeland is similar, a prospect.
Do not want Distin. Or Campbell.
Do not want Ferdinand (Jnr)
For all the money we may get for Joleon, the reason city are buying is because there is no one as good with the experience. I suspect Moyes could find an adequate replacement, but is adequate good enough? Jagielka is not as quick, and is yet to make a full recovery.
Are we in a position now where we take for granted how solid and efficient our back four is. I do not particularly want to disturb it.

Scene of the crime, very dodgy knee, I liked him and once called for his return (especially when we should have shivved Rangers over the £500k) but he has not played consistantly since he played for us. Sadly, and it is Smith and Knox that did it, I believe he is damaged goods. An appalling situation. I do not want to see Neville at left back covering Baines, I still have visions of euro 2000 in that situation (without Baines). Baines will need some respite next season, we cannot expect 60+ games especially not from someone running the entire left flank for 90 minutes none stop every game.
I suppose it is these positions of judgement that Moyes lives for, he knows it is his head on the chopping block every time, no second chances here as there simply is not the cash to rectify a mistake (VDM) so getting the right player in everytime and on time is paramount. It is enough to drive a person to drink.

All very true, although I wondered if Moyes might be tempted by the idea of back-up for both left-back & centre-back, subject to the lad's physical condition.

Hate talking like this but if we hit defcom 5.

I would go for Bangoura at Rangers, Gary Cahill at Bolton or Ryan Shawcross at Stoke.

Hangeland....he was awesome last season... Get £30million for Lescott and snap up Hangeland for £10-£12 million....happy days

Upson for me , left footed , Eng Int.....Westham are bribing him with a captainacy offer to convince him to stay......

The reality is there are quite a few options in the 10 mill bracket that we could attract and still have a decent bit left over, I'm sure Davey will get all the Lescott money. The previous transfer pot will not be borrowed/go towards DK, even a self confessed optimist can spot that EFC plot line.
