Lescott : would you have him back?

LOL.

Jagielka made Lescott look far better than he actually was, as he covered for him and was always there to cover in behind when he made an error.

Distin is a far better all-round defender and is much quicker. Lescott was at his best attacking an aerial ball, but was often caught square and got done when he was up against decent forwards.

He'll go to Villa this summer imo.
Nope. Vice versa.

Lescott went on to be first choice in a title winning side, whereas our defence has never looked anywhere near as good.

Also, never played well against a good striker? How about when he had Drogba in his back pocket all game Chelsea away when Cahill scored his overhead kick? Best performance from a defender I've ever seen

Distin's positioning is awful and he can't head a ball. Not sure how you measured bravery, I never saw Lescott pull out of a challenge

Distin can't head a ball? What? In the opposition box he can't, but I don't think he's ever lost a header in his life. Even when he was a kid against his big cousins.

Or in the cup final when Drogba scored a header and Lescott didn't bother jumping.

He was great for us, though, but not as good as Jagielka and Distin's been more than capable.

I don't think anyone has watched him since 2009 judging by a few comments. He was immense, especially at left back, but that's like 5 years ago and he wasn't a spring chicken when we had him. Swerve please, I'd like to remember the good times.

He also gave possibly the worst performance at left back I have ever seen when we played Standard mate, got targeted in that game by the manager and totally exposed in the position over both ties (I think it was by Dalmat), very very rarely played lb again for us after that game as his confidence totally went

Why do people still not rate Distin like they should?

He's gone on to be brilliant for us for what? 5 years now? Lescott has never strung together that kind of consistency for anyone.

He's a good player, Lescott, and was great for us but he's not been missed. Thanks to the man mountain that is Sylvain.

The piece from Lescott the other day was really somewhat sad.
He was trying to justify his decision to join City because of two league medals.
But ,really he is a centreback who should be at his very peak and getting ready to
travel to Brazil with his country.
Instead he played a very peripheral role for his medal and is a forgotten man.
So much so, that an unknown nineteen year old is back up defender to replace
Phil Jones.
Are medals alone so important ? How much pride will Jack Rodwell have in his medal?

We did exceptionall well out of Joleon Lescott. The fact that David Moyes basically squandered his transfer fee(Distin apart)
is not Lescotts fault.

No matter what happens next season I think Distin has been an absolutely brilliant servant to this club, for his age he is still the quickest out there. Gets a lot of crabs giving him abuse that he does not deserve.

As for Lescott, swerve the money grabbing knob. May have medals but has spent the majority of his time there sitting on a bench.

I honestly don't care now how lescott left and if I thought he'd improve our first 11 I'd have him back as he's free and yes to get a quality CB for free would be great.

The truth is, he's not a quality CB for where we are as a club now. I think jags and Distin are a great partnership, then we have young stones and they all have a year of Bobby's footballing philosophy under there belts...I wouldn't start lescott over any of them 3.

Ok yes I'd gladly swap him for alcaraz but he's not gonna want to come here anyway being a bit part player, he's already that at city.

Time to move on. Lescott was great when he was here (although I've always prefered jags) but we need another young buck, who will eventually be stones's first choice partnership. Lescott is not that guy!

Distin has been immense for us but if we are to sign a centre half this summer then someone between 23-27 would be preferable to be Stones longterm partner so that rules out Lescott unless you get him in and ship out Alcaraz. Just think that Lescott is not getting any younger and Jags is better anyway.

Got to admit, i was far from impressed when we replaced Lescott with Distin, but the big fella has won me over, Ok he makes the odd costly mistake, but most defenders do, Distin seems to have improved with age, and i`m not sure who is the better player, but one thing for sure we got the better deal, £5m v £22m was it?

Lescott did very well financially out of the move and he's got medals in his cabinet. However, he's gone back as a player; as someone else pointed out, he's not even considered for the England back up squad and he was a fringe player at City this season.

One thing I always ask myself when there's a clamour to "bring back" someone; if the player hadn't been previously involved with Everton, would we seriously consider signing him? He's a defender who's past his best and would expect that we match his huge wages. I'm sure there's better options to be had.

Heard last week from my source that he'd agreed terms with Everton and set to sign but I didn't want to mention anything as I wasn't sure if it was true. Confirmed today that he has left City
