Lescott : would you have him back?

Lescott didnt do anything wrong. Im sick of this narrow minded thinking. He wanted what was best for him and it worked out well for him. Good on him.

We jib players off when we dont want them, does that make us evil too?

Football is a business these days, get used to it.

Good on him for forcing a transfer which screwed up our back four after ignoring the fans at the Arsenal game and totally capitulating. Strange thing for an Everton supporter to say really.

He signed a contract, and didn't stick to the terms of that contract. Why you're saying 'good on him' for that is beyond me really.

Exactly right

I for one am more surprised at Moyes being open to the idea, the stubborn ballbag.

Me too tbh. For him to be talking so openly about the possibility says to me that there's something in this. As I'd have expected him to either dismiss the idea or by very non comittal

A.) Lescott is on around 30k more per week than Heitinga, who allegedly at £62k had to take a paycut from Atletico to come here.

B). Even if we offloaded Heitinga and used his wage for Lescott, that's 33% of his already heavily-taxed pay vanished, something to which a Premier League footballer won't be too happy about.

C). If he were to come back to Everton, either on loan with us paying his wages or on a permanent basis, I don't see where we're going to find a parity sum of £90k a week, which roughly estimates to £4.7m p.a.

D). We all know we'll be lucky to get anything above £8m for Heitinga, and this is Everton we're talking about here, how much of that will go back into Finch Farm or to the banks? Anything we'd have left certainly wouldn't get "those young players we want" on top of Lescott.

E). The events around Lescott's departure won't sit too well with many people, especially if we're paying f*cking wages like that.

F). He's 30, it would be staggeringly ill-founded business in every way to offer sums of money like that to a central defender, if we're talking about breaking the bank for f*cking Wesley Sneijder or something then it's a different beast.

Lescott is a great player and a partership of him and Jagielka would do us the world of good; But if we were to get him on loan with Man City paying his wages it would be a miracle & a reasonable stop gap until the summer at best, because we certainly couldn't afford a transfer fee and wages similar to what he's on now, as it would blow our wage structure out of the water by some distance.

And he's a [Poor language removed], so it's a no from me.

As I said, a LOAN....with Heitinga being sold.

A -- Cash in for heitinga

B -- Wages of 30k a week extra would be 120k GBP a month so 600k GBP we could pay Man City in fees to cover this....which would be regained from heitingas sale (whose value would drop 600k in the next 6months anyway as he only has a year left on his contract from summer)....

C -- If Lescott comes in and performs then great, if not we send him back to city.

D -- If Lescott REALLY performs then we have an option to buy him which due to his age etc would only be taken if he helped get us champs league....

E -- The Heitinga fee less 600k for fees to city would cover 1 if not 2 young signings....

I'd rather sell Heitinga and get a top youngster in, but lescott and jagielka together are phenomenal.

Sell one of our three centre backs and replace him with a loan deal for a player with higher wages who will go back to City in the Summer leaving us with two centre halves ? Why ??

We HAVE to sell Heitinga....his contract will have a year to go in the summer and it seems like hes being offered around already....

Heitinga has been underpar this season and jagielka has alot of experience of playing with Lescott....and is a better player.

So if we act now we can get;
1 -- a higher fee for heitinga than in the summer
2 -- a top player with experience of the club and players
3 -- cash in the bank
4 -- We can also look to sign him if we get cash from champs league OR we have 6 months or more to sign a young player with the heitinga money to fill the slot next to jags.

If we sell heitinga in jan and dont get lescott then we have a new player coming into the side which may cost us points.

If we wait until summer to sell heitinga;
1 -- We are selling a player with only a year on his contract and most likely a full year as 3rd choice with us = lower fee
2 -- We have to spend time negotiating a sale price....which gives us less time to find a replacement for the fee.

EDIT -- 3 centre backs ? We should be playing duffy who was outstanding in the games he had for us.

You live in a very idealised world if you think we'll automatically find a buyer for Heitinga and automatically get more because it's in January rather than June. I really doubt six months is going to make a massive difference to his fee, this isn't a match winning striker we're talking about.

And what happens if City are forced to recall Lescott because of an injury crisis ? Then we'd be left with two first team centre backs and Duffy.

Only having two experienced centre halves on permanent deals at any point is total madness.

Heitinga will go in the summer aye, and I guess most of us won't be too arsed unless it's for a paltry fee such as four or five million. Hopefully he'll sign a new deal with the promise of being sold (pay rise, keeps his value high) and can go play Champions League football somewhere. Got to be looking at 10m in today's market, which could be used to sign a second striker.

You realise that if we are paying a fee for Lescott to counteract his wage discrepancy which i listed as circa 600k then city would not be able to insert a call-back clause....

Furthermore i havent said we will automatically find a buyer for heitinga, although its common sense that his value will be higher with 1.5 years on his contract instead of a single year.....

So negative....its football FFS.

What you call negative i call logical.

How many other top 8 teams have had only two experienced centre backs on their books recently ? None i'd wager.

What happens if we sign Lescott on a loan and the Heitinga deal falls through ? Or vice versa ? We'll have lost money we can't afford to lose.

"What if" it all goes well and everything is great?
