Lescott : would you have him back?

In my opinion the truth is as usual somewhere in the middle. I don't mind players leaving clubs we're all grown ups and there are always clubs bigger but it's how the player does it and behaves that's crucial. Lescott frankly didn't turn up in that arsenal game whilst let's not forget pienaar 'wasn't mentally right' to play in a derby match a fact others seem to have forgotten , let's compare that to James Milner who despite an imminent move to city played, scored , got MOM & a standing ovation in his last game. Lescott wanted to leave for big money and to be part of a 'project' whilst pienaar had wanted the same deal as Arteta but money was a driving force for both of them.

Moyes took pienaar back in a heartbeat so it wouldnt surprise me if we did the same again although i think the players age & long term prospects of a deal would probably make it less likely. Large amount of us would moan if he came back but like so many footy fans whatever we say we'd get over it like city did with tevez & united with Rooney and numerous other clubs did with numerous other players .

I've posted before Players move and do so so often without giving an seconds thought for their fans or clubs , one of the most telling quotes I've ever had said to me about football from someone in the game fits perfectly in here "players are c@nts , they just dont care and once you realise that you've got chance in this game".

To offset this rare breakout of common sense I, users of GOT, readdress the balance with this :

KOFF LESCOTT TIN-EAD LAD..

Good post

I think Moyes and the players would take him back on loan in a second - the fans are another matter.

I totally understand your feelings mate but did pienaar's return create the same response or was the arsenal game more important than the derby ?

For me personally Lescott's betrayal was far worse, as he openly spat his dummy after agreeing a wage packet with City without our consent & then shat on us ON THE PITCH against Arsenal.

Pienaar's situation was partially the clubs fault imo, the same can't be said of Lescott, so he can get to ****

I'm sure Lescott would rather have been a key man winning the league and have a couple more million in the bank rather than getting cheered at a dinner party, I'm blue to the core but if I was in Lescott's or Rooney's shoes I'd move, footballers have to look after their families.

Don't really care what he thinks, my opinion is there is more to life than money and glory alone. He showed no loyalty to people that took a major gamble when others didn't. Let him lie in his bed and go to qpr, where he belongs!

'Hitler was a really sound lad, if you take out the holocaust thing'.

We might as well say we'd take Suarez as well. Lescott is a very good defender but he took a s**t on us as soon as he smelled a bigger pay packet (City were not in contention for titles when he left), and his performance at Arsenal was a disgrace. He thought he was better than us then, and he probably thinks he's better than us now. I don't care how good him and Jags would be, i'd never want to see him play for Everton ever again.

And i won't, because he'd never come here, and Moyes would never have him back. Sometimes it's good to have a manager with principles.

Oh, and the amount of money we got for him is irrelevant. He didn't ask to leave and kick up a fuss because he knew we'd get a big wedge for him, his actions were completely selfish. Take a look at a certain afro'd Belgian for how to handle interest from big clubs.

First page no less. Disappointed here ginge.

I would take him back, as I think he is a good player and long term we need a replacement for Distin, as he is'nt getting any younger.

I don't think he would come back because;

a) he is on too much money and we would'nt pay him the same as he gets now
b) Moyes and Lescott had a massive falling out when he left and have never patched it up
c) he would get loads of stick from the fans because of how he left

I don't think he'd want to come back, and I don't think most of us want him back. The Arsenal debacle is the first thing anyone thinks of where he's concerned. If we wanted him perm, it'd probably be around £7m and huge wages anyway, so a big no.

99% of all footballers would do what Lescott done to Everton, leave for a much higher wage packet and sadly to a club with better prospects than us.Though I hated him at the time,( 6-1 to Arsenal),I would have him back,Distin's 35,Heitinga's gone backwards and lets face it the Jags / Lescott partnership was the best since Ratcliffe and Watson, both present England internationals, its a no brainer.

Err mehh gerrd Lescott!
