Lescott left back? Why not Baines?

Player Valuation: £6m
It seems a bit obvious, but why ponder over an Everton centre back (Lescott) or a holding midfielder (Neville) when Everton have the answer for England. Our current number one left back, Leighton Baines. He seems a very similiar player to Cashley Cole to me.

Steve Mclaren, a bit more scouting at Goodison Park next time please!

That's a fair point, blue; if Baines keeps up his current impressive form he deserves a chance, though it's probably a bit early for him to be getting recognition from Steve 'Stuck-in-the-Mud' McLaren.

Nuts, hate it when someone makes the same point I was going to! (y)

I had the same misgivings, its a possible blessing that he didn't play that well(y)

I know what you mean, whenever our players go to England they dont last long with us. As for Lescott at left back, its understandable that a club play a player out of position out of necessity, but for a nation to do it is crazy. I know he's done well for us at left back, but its clear he's a centre, and with all the left backs available in england, like Baines, its madness to play Lescott there. Mclaren is bringing on his end all by himself.

The experience will have done Lescott good though, shown him what is required to do well at the top level.

Was thinking the same thing during the game last night. Even though I'd prefer all of our players to be at Finch Farm this week preparing for the derby, experiencing the intimidating atmosphere and high pressure game that Lescott did can only benefit him and thus ourselves when we travel abroad.

That last post was far too serious! Here's some silliness to balance out my day...

Ah, that's better.
