David Moyes is tempted by Feyenoord's Leroy Fer

Everton boss David Moyes is trying to sign Dutch midfielder Leroy Fer – nicknamed The Bouncer.

The 6ft 2in Feyenoord star has been likened to Patrick Vieira because of his size and tackling ability.

Fer, 20, is a Holland Under-21 international, and sources at the Rotterdam club say they expect him to join Everton.

Moyes may have to fork out about £4million, with his hand forced by the loss of free agent Dan Gosling.

Fer, whose father was a football international for Netherlands Antilles and his mother a top baseball player, has been with Feyenoord since he was nine.

Everton have been trailing him for months and need to move quickly before he makes the full Dutch national side and moves beyond their price range.

Moyes has money to spend on reinforcements for his squad and Fer comes with huge potential sell-on value – if he is a Premier League success. Fer has been playing first-team football since he was 17 and the feeling in Holland is that he is ready to move on.

TBH who..??

Dutch is he any good??

Interesting one this. Totally out of the blue. Physical strong defensive midfielder with potential. Think his style suits English football. Would be interesting to see if he can make the step up from Feyenoord to the PL though.

Hopefully he's ready made for our disciplined, ultra defensive, static 4-2-3-1.

We need a statuesque player who can fill in there.

I do like the lad myself, but since we have Rodwell, Jags, and Johnny H, I do not see where he will find a spot.

Wouldnt underestimate the 4-2-3-1 bound to be in vouge next season - Moyes has used it in past seasons - its likely to be an options. As for this lad i know nothing about him but if we're considering permemnetly hes bound to have something about him.

Some canny signings have and seem to be the pipeline, i guess you would expect this lad to have good techniuqe playing for Feynoord and has international honours, allied with his position a good addition to the squad.
