Played very well obviously instructed to stand off opponents more . He made a run up the left wing and kept going to the right wing I could see the passion he wanted this

Had the same thoughts so I hardly think it's pure fume although fume is most definitely contributing to over 90% of the posts tonight (mine included).

Agree to disagree and I started all this out by saying that his reign as first choice is beginning to come to an end not that he should never start again.

Completely disagree and am not sure how you've made that assessment. Especially for how experienced he is he needed to do a lot more for me.

For me the three that stood out were Funes Mori, Barry, and Barkley.

Barkley ? He scored was great and deserved . I no he got the injury but faced out of the game after a bit of brilliance never tracks back either held onto the ball for to long couldn't find a pass and they would counter us

Completely disagree. It wasn't just the goal he moved the ball more effectively than most.

I agree regarding them three, and Baines' crossing could have been better but he kept us moving going forward and made some great challenges. I don't think he was fantastic, just one of our better players.

He either, as another poster thinks, was told to stand off opponents, is just trying to get all his physical fitness back and so backed off them, or was just not feeling a sprint after them.

I think it didn't help with his previous injury but yes correct me if I'm wrong but why wasn't he closing down there players letting them make space.

Yes he did he was more direct but he needs to lift his head and find that pass
