Leighton Baines

i can only think that Leighton was asking for a little bit more that Everton wanted to pay, and with the emergence of Oviedo, we had a bargaining chip. However, now we dont, we bow to his demands and he gets his way.

Boss isn't it, we should'a just give him what he wanted 6 months ago.......

Made up he's staying, now we have to further improve the squad before the end ot the window.

Why can you only think that ? Maybe it was always going to happen, and has been timed in the transfer window, so its like 'a new signing'. I'm sure I remeber this happening before at Everton.....

I honestly think we left the door wide open for him to move, but with United going cold & ****e, looked more and more likely he was staying.

Im very happy.

Devastated.

Deffo thought he'd jumped ship meaning I am now officially wrong about something ... THAT NEVER HAPPENS!!

Leighton you leather!!

(welcome back son)

Fantastic player. Delighted. Said all summer Fellaini can go an we will replace him, but Baines has to stay. The only world class player I have ever seen play for us.

Ace news.

However, no quotes from Leighton at all? Would've expected him to have had something to say on the matter, i.e. how happy and proud he is to have committed his future to the club he loves, etc.

Seems a little strange, the whole situation. Why did it take half a year to sort out? Did he always want to committ to us? What does he think going forward from this point?

Do you really hate optimism so much?

Did you miss the first two words of my post?

Do you not find it a tad peculiar that he hasn't opened his mouth the entire time? Surely he's absolutely made up to become (probably) the club's highest earner ever... would be cool to hear him say as such!

I reckon he is probably training for the biggest game of the season at the moment. He can come out and go on about how grateful he is when he finishes doing that, or not at all. I couldn't care if he smashes in a winner at the pit tomorrow.

I imagine he didn't sign the deal this morning and has had more than enough time to share his thoughts with the fans! Don't get me wrong, it is excellent news. Maybe we'll hear from him this week. No doubt if he gets MOM tomorrow he'll be asked the question.

He doesn't do many interviews, anyway. Just seems odd to think that a guy not saying, 'I'm happy to still have the same job as I've had for the last few years', is strange.

Yeah it was probably done on the weekend. He isn't the sort of person who would ring up the media straight away and let them know. He seems very down to earth. Probably happier with Martinez doing it so he can get his head down. At least thats the impression I get of him.
