Leighton Baines

The team are still adapting to the way RM wants them to play - if it means having more options than iust Baines or Coleman bombing on then so be it - we need more flexibility as a team. Does not mean that both full backs CAN'T get forward - it is an option embracing a more fluid style of play but it will need patience from the fans imo. Still think Leighton is very important to us and don't want to see him leave

Yes, because we're not forcing every attacking move down the flanks these days.

This fact is self evident.

And as Baines looks much better going forward than he does at the back, I am now all for taking an over the odds price for him.

Even in January and even if he goes to United.

Previously I had opposed such a move on the grounds that we don't want to "strengthening" a rival top four challenging team in mid season.

But I honsetly don't think Baines would be any improvement on Evra and I would trust Roberto to invest the lion's share of the fee in making our team and squad better.

Without his attacking threat, he has performed pretty averagely for us this season, IMO

He has.

I can probably be quoted in this thread (arond the time of the first bid) saying that Baines is irreplaceable.

Tbh, I wholeheartedly take that back. Baines is replaceable, anyone is (football wise).

Players come and go but Everton is forever. Would love him to stay like.

Or at least, if he's gonna leave then he could at least stick it to the RS next week as a parting gift.

LOVE THE WEE MAN TO BITS ,BUT SINCE HIS HEADS BEEN TURNED BY THE OTHER GINGER HEADED TW@T , BAR FOR THE 2 FREE KICKS AT WEST HAM HES BEEN POOR , FACT

He's a great player but he this season he's being average . It's obvious that the current system doesn't get the best out of him as we are far more reliant on the wingers creating width and giving Barkley the Licence to create. If we do get offered 16m then maybe we should consider it as if Martinez wants a less attacking left back then it would be cheaper to buy a replacement which means more money for other areas
