Leighton Baines

The passage of time is amazing. If Moyes had carted Baines off on the last day of the window for £16m or whatever the reported bid was I'd have been up in arms.

Fast forward a few months and now whilst I don't welcome the prospect - I know ultimately I'd shrug my shoulders, **** the pair of them off, but back Martinez to bring in all kinds of talent to make us stronger.

Anyone else like this? I'd rather Baines stayed and we added a few decent bodies in Jan. but if he went and we blew the cash on a major signing or two it might just be the next part of this crazy roller coaster season we're having...

Tend to agree with what your saying mate, one thing is though if he does leave i will wish him all the best besides when we play each other

Putting Baines straight back in screams of David Moyes. (Dropped Ross Barkley who bossed Arsenal for Osman who wasnt fully fit against Sunderland)

Roberto will do the right thing.

Fully agree. If RM used the money for another boss signing or saved it to buy Lukaku in the summer then nobody would mind.

Still wish we could keep him and sign players but know deep down selling him is the best way to get enough funds to push for 4th. Will always give him a good reception if he does leave though.

Moyes may come in during the jan window but I think if we're still going strong in the new year Baines might want to see out the season at least.

If he does go and we add one or two quality players to the ranks, and Oviedo keeps up his form then it won't be the end of the world.

I would hate to lose Baines but for a club like Everton I think a bid of 15m would be too good to turn down. Baines is now 29 and depends on energy and pace and these attributes may decline a little in a couple of years. As Baines contract starts to run down his value will also decrease, this may be the last window where we can squeeze a lot of money out of a buying club.

I suppose if I am honest I am also eager to see who RM might bring in if he has reasonable funds available.

Baines won't come straight back into the team. He'll be on the bench, and if we're struggling in a game Martinez will bring him on and use that as the excuse to bring him back in.

And that's the right call, because you shouldn't have ANY player as an automatic starter regardless of form. Oviedo is in excellent form and deserves his place.

And I'm the biggest Baines fan there is.

pretty sure there is no reason why a one man team like liverpool shouldn't have suarez as an automatic starter. Same as spurs last year with bale. luckily we're a team and that quote probably does apply to us.

I love bainsey and really don't want him to go, but the blow would be softened by the form of Oviedo. None of us really got to see him play under moyes so naturally everyone assumed he was **** and the world would implode if baines was sold.

Whilst it would still be gutting, it would only really be like a small asteroid hitting some random country miles away, rather than a full blown Independence Day style attack on the entire world.

wales probably

Potentially back Sunday, so we'll see what Bobby M does.

Over Christmas though I wouldn't be averse to one playing Southampton, one playing Sunderland.
