Interesting however it doesn't change the FACT that Lescott's form is extremely poor at the moment.

I'd let Lescott sit out the Carling Cup match as well and then see what his mind's like when next weekend rolls around.

Lescott did well when he came on, he's back.(y)

I'd still drop him for the Carling Cup and let Baines play.

Our whole defense needs dropping at this point with the amount of goals we're letting in.

I would let Baines play against Blackburn, I'd bring Lescott back in for Liverpool and Liege.

I said it was a stupid idea dropping Lescott, I stand by what I said. With two massive games coming up continually changing the back four won't help things. We need continuity, Neville, Yobo, Jags and Lescott is our best and most effective back four.

While I agree with the continuity part, they haven't been very effective from a goals allowed and a results standpoint.

We really didn't have anything to lose by dropping Lescott at that point.

Let him watch from the bench again this week and he'll be chomping at the bit by the time the derby rolls around.

in the beginning of this term valente looked ace, give him another go

dropping lescott from the squad isn't going ot hurt his confidence, its just going to show him that his spot isn't a given, possibly keep the lad grounded.

competition for spots is always a good thing, and we rarely have it here at everton. when we have 2 good centre backs, 2 good left backs, and one player that can play both, its wisest to use all of them.

He didn't but he kept hitting it long as did Yobo and Jags. Neville did occasionly but Castillo gave him the short option alot.

Lescott came on and did a good job on the left, won a few headers, got forward a few times and best of all kept the ball on the deck. Joleon isn't as gifted as Baines on the ball but he keeps it simple and keeps it on the deck.

Phil Brown said they targeted us at set pieces due to the lack of height. Saha and Lescott came on and that changed. Lescott is very important to this team, he shouldn't have been dropped.

I don't think that Baines would hit it long as much if he had a natural winger who hug's the touchline. Arteta drifts in far too much to offer a pass on the wing, pushing Baines to resort to the long ball.

Yes but Yakubu is also important to this team and Moyes didn't hesitate in dropping him after his late return from the ANC.

I like how Moyes has handled this.

No player should ever feel like they are too important to be dropped, Lescott included.

(I'm not saying that Lescott feels that way, I just think it was a no-brainer on current form for him to sit one or two matches out.)

I highly doubt Valente will play much this season apart from FA cup or League cup games. I actually think Moyes wants Valente as more expierence to side. He did say that Nuno was the best foriegn Footballer he has worked with.
