Leighton Baines has Ankle problem

Oh crap.

I can't change the fact that he played because what's the point now, but I really really hope he's better for our next game.

Losing him means Distin at LB again.

Does it? Oviedo played the full 90 tonight, and Coleman's back on the right. No sense in breaking up Jags and Distin again.

We have been so lucky with Baines' fitness and availability since we signed him, but all players will pick up injuries or illness.

Tonight we should have rested him, along with a couple of other senior players. Easy to saw that now considering we ran out 5-1 winners, but I said it before the game too. There are a lot of matches to go, and we have to do everything not to knacker ourselves out at the business end of the season.

I don't think it's too bad, Baines's legs looked pretty beaten up when they focused the camera on him.
But I doubt it will stop him from playing this weekend.

Moyes was right to field a strong side tonight . People who are moaning seems to already have forgotten the Leeds game last season . Baines was fit to go otherwise Moyes would never have played him tonight .

tbf we can cope without him at left back against Swansea at home. Distin does well LB, remember the end of last season? 4 - 4 at united amongst other comfortable wins. I think we could actually cope

Don't think Moyes chances Oviedo against a non League Two side, but I could be wrong. Hasn't been his MO in the past.

This. Isn't Oviedo a left back?

He played at left back in Costa Rica and does so internationally but they often played him at left midfield in Denmark. Moyes played him at LB against Leeds and last again night after Baines came off.

Coleman and Bale are the two obvious examples here. They both played both positions before eventually settling on one. Presumably Oviedo will do the same at some later point.
