Anyone in a position to give any legal advice out; in relation to landlord/tenant/neighbour disputes?

Got some problems with neighbours and the landlord is dragging his heels regarding doing anything tangible about it.

If anyone knows anything about the law, give me a shout.

curious, what is the problem...

Neighbour burns incense. Not the occasional stick burning away but huge clouds of this toxic incense. Fair enough if it stayed in her flat. I'd even put up with the fact that all the communal hallways stink. But its so strong I can barely breathe in my own flat now. The smell makes me sick and clouds of smoke in my flat are just not on. Cant even taste my food because of this horrible smell.

I've talked to her before and she's completely irrational so its gonna have to go through the landlord who is easily bullied into doing nothing. Ergo I need a solicitor to point me to the pertinent law and get it sorted.

Maybe even pay for a solicitor's letter.

Get onto the council, put a complaint in there first. Fire hazard. Noise at night because of her incense parties. Dream something up so that the council contact the landlord and put the frightners on him.

Nah I wanna play everything by the book.

According to my landlord she's already played the race card, saying that she's being discriminated against because of her background, beliefs religion etc.

God knows why the landlord or me would do that, as I haven't got a clue what her beliefs are or her religion. I noticed she was black when I had a discussion earlier with her but that has hardly informed my views. All I want is for her to lay off the incense in her flat as its getting into my flat and causing a nuisance.

unless the landlord said something untoward to her (and I doubt it) then it pisses me off she's decided to use something like that that is genuinely designed to protect people who are being discriminated against. You cry wolf on that and it just cheapens the people who've had to struggle against racism and oppression.

Well, get a letter in to Lewis Hamilton while you are at it then. In all seriousness, get onto the community inspector at your local council, explain and better yet show him the problem and see what advice he has. Worst case scenario, you might have to start rendering fat in your flat to even up the score a little.

Citizens Advice, once they advise you they won't be allowed to advise her as it will be a conflict of interests, same if a dispute with your landlord and you get in there 1st.
