Left Back Debacle

It's crazy to think that Luke Garbutt is earning close to 30,000 a week. In four months time, he'll be 25 years old. Why the hell is he on our books if he's deemed not good enough?

Koeman not having him in the squad and having no back up for Baines just shows how much of a farce his thinking was at the start of the season.

He was showing decent promise and looked like he might be in the 'Baines successor' sweepstakes. In fact, there were even rumours that Liverpool wanted to snatch him off us when his contract ended, so it made sense for us to tie him down.

The problem is his loans spells at Fulham and Wigan have shown him to be little more than lower championship standard player. There aren't many clubs in that division who can afford to pay a left back that kind of money, hence why no one wanted him in the summer.

See that Ryan Sessegnon scored twice today, that's 11 goals in 32 appearances for Fulham now.

He looks fantastic he really does. Could easily see him as a winger in the future as well if his defensive game does not develop as well as his attacking prowess. That makes him a very safe investment for any club that buys him, at best you get a potential world class left back, at worst you get a solid left winger.

Have seen him a few times now, and for a 17 year old his positional play is fantastic. Really surprised that no club has tried to get him in.
