The thing is it may not be about that. Leeds struggle when teams run with the ball against their press and Iwobi is better at that than Townsend is. It's possible he just is a better fit today.
 

RafaBenitez has no trust in Mina as he was not present in pre-season. Only now he sidelined holgate to give Mina a break. And Iwobi making some contributions last game also misled Rafael into thinking he can contribute same this game. Rather Townsend starts.

Faiiiiirly sure Mina was at the Copa America and Rafael probably just wanted to give him a rest
