Leeds/PSG

Indeed.

There's yer problem right there.

Geographical location was a major factor in the Barcodes not being able to kick on when they were briefly s major player back at the turn of t' century.

Leeds ain't Paris, that's for sure.

Unless you ask anyone from Leeds in which case it's one of the world's great cities.

That’s fair enough. Sure there is some nice places in Yorkshire.

It is as much the WAGS as owt else.

They don’t want to be restricted to Richmond, Yorkshire when they could be swanning around Richmond, London....nice and all as the former is.

It is hard enough selling the cities of Liverpool and Manchester to beautiful models and actresses from the south of France, Madrid or down t’ Amalfi Coast direction, never mind a city like Leeds with none of the iconic counter culture status we in Liverpool have enjoyed since the 1960s.

Look no further than when Giroud was all set to sign for Koeman....until the WAG blackballed it.

Easier said than done challenging the big boys, as we well know.

I was under the impression you could only own one football team, is that per Country then, or League/association

It must be per country.

City own a team in New York and one in Sydney, Australia if I am not mistaken.

And Red Bull own teams in Germany and Austria.

All quite amusing. Whilst nobody could claim Leeds is like Madrid or Barcelona, or even blimmin' London, it is far from the 70s three-star jumper or 80s goth stereotypes that folk have. Plenty of good places to live to the north or west of the city centre. The shopping is rumoured to be second only to London for those bothered about matters WAGgy. Since the 80s it's been a pretty go-ahead tolerant city, you'd be well surprised.

It’s not just the city of Leeds or the county of Yorkshire. I think the point I and others are trying to make, Leeds as a club and city won’t attract the stars of what the PSG owners expect. Paris a well renowned city world wide. Easy to recruit players to. PSG been in the champions league for years now and won many league titles. Leeds have been out the premier league for years, recruiting players even if offering 150k a week will still be a struggle.

The Premier League is becoming too saturated.

Clubs like Spurs, Arsenal & Liverpool will eventually drop out of the CL as It will be dominated by the oil clubs.

Sadly it also means 7th becomes just has hard to get as 6th now does and any chance of europe is basically gone bar a freak season.

Sad times.

fact is that biggest clubs will attract the most investment because they will see a return from fans. I think we can envisage a time when each club will sell television rights seperately. That is the day the premier league dies. Man Utd, City, chelsea and Liverpool will be selling to millions television season tickets around the world. The rest of the league will have to make do with small local audience of 10s of thousands.

With the rules around FFP the way they are it is a lot harder to do what City/Chelsea did. Some said Wolves would do it, and Aston Villa neither have. I'd imagine Leeds will spend similarly if they come up, but nothing on the scale of what we've seen many times before.

Salah, Van Dijk, Laporte, Sterling etc are not jacking it in at their clubs to go to Leeds.

The investment in PSG has also really slowed up recently. It looks as if they are diversifying and reducing the level of output.

I'm sure we'll have the same fan fare that greeted Wolves, Aston Villa and Newcastle though.

This is it. Wolves and Villa threatened the same and haven't really bought anyone of note. The reason Wolves have done well is because they have put in place a good structure with a good coach.

The likes of Liverpool, or City are not selling their best players to Leeds.

To an extent we have found this out as well. And we have a tradition of 50 odd years in the top flight. They will have to wait their turn like the rest of us, and hope to stay up the first couple of seasons they are promoted (if they finally get promoted.)
