Leaving the match before the final whistle

And yet folk think a docks stadium will be fine and dandy, transport-wise.

The positives vastly outweigh the negatives, of course, but unless they can offer some sweet park-and-ride option (including monorail, of course) then you're looking at parking hell down there at 5pm.

I tend not to think too much about these things, and if me leaving a minute or 2 early is the downside, then its not to much a big deal.

Never got the leave early for the train home thing even for people who live the other side of the country. WIth train prices so ridiculous it's cheaper to get a hotel in town and drive. Watch the full match ffs.
I'm sure the wife would happily acquiesce to that one. 'But dear, it's £10 cheaper to stay over, see your in the morning, kids - be good for your mum, bye!'

When, if ever, is it acceptable?

On a spectrum of "Bad fan you" to "Who cares?" - how acceptable is it?

Do you judge fans who leave early? Or are you one of them thinking "If I leave now, I'll just make the train..."

I don't do it, lad I used to get a lift with does it every single game and has missed so many late goals it beggars belief that he still does (Oviedo at O.T. stands out as 1 of most recent) and I'm talking 10 mins from end a lot of the time even if 0-0, 0-1 & pressing for equaliser, no matter what the score is.

Getting onto the lancs can be a nightmare at the moment, and if you get caught there, could add 30 mins to my journey, and my kids are quite young and don't travel well.

But we will leave on 90 mins if the game is done.

I park Walton Hall Park, bit of a walk but better than paying to be closer & then sitting in a jam

the match going experience will change for all when we are there, driving to the game certainly needs to be addressed.

Hopefully any new ground will have a lovely open concourse for folk to hang around with a pint should they so wish, and be able to see the game.

Not sure if that's allowed is it ? isn't there a 'not in sight of the pitch' rule/law ? which doesn't apply in other sports

Normally i don't leave until the final whistle. Think what would make me leave is if we are playing awful and it has got embarrassing. The derby last year for arguments sake.

Anyone who left that game has my full blessing.
i just mean a game where we are just shocking in it. But then if we are crap anyway at the time i wouldn't leave, and not a knee jerk response either.

Would have to be a truely bad game for us to warrant me leaving.

(although left a tranmere game once for being too cold, was boxing day lol )

Only game I've ever left early was a battering by West Brom at home a few years back. Think Arteta got sent off and we lost 4-1ish. Not sure what it was about that game that was worse than the numerous other pastings I've seen us take but something just snapped and I trudged off with about 10 to go.

Don't see the point in paying for a ticket and leaving before you know what the result is. If you're in a rush to get home, don't go.

That derby match plumbed new depths for me. The absolute definition of a car crash.

Just as bad are those arriving late. 10-15 minutes in and still loads arriving with pies/hotdogs in hand and don't even glance at the pitch before they start their slow "which one is my seat?" climb up the steps.

Never left a game early in my life, some of the performances over the years made me feel like it mind, guess the only reason is if something happens that makes it a neccesity to leave (family emergency etc) or if your having to travel using plane/train whatever and will miss that if you stick the full 90 out.

Same goes for concerts etc as well and seen loads leave those early over the years

Use to sit next to a lad in the LGS about 10 years ago, who travelled up from Oxford for every home game. He always had to leave 15 min's early to catch the train back home. Dedication or just plain mad?

It's not that simple in fairness .

I remember a game against Coventry, where the 2 blokes sat next to me and my dad were the most miserable people I've ever met. in fact there was a pervading attitude of hate. Ndlovu scored a crackr for them, and I made some comment to my dad about what a good goal it was and got a mouthful of invective from one of them, so I told my dad I was sick of it and we left. I didn't go back for a good while after that. Other than that I don't think I've left early, even stayed all the way through the 5-0 Derby
