League of love (and hate)

People respect our fans, tradition, history and the fact that we're (albeit reluctantly) fighting (and winning, under Moyes, at least) against the wave of billionaires infiltrating the English game, while other teams languish in the bottom half, often bouncing in and out of the league, unable to challenge.

It's a shame that as soon as we get bought (LOL) by a rich owner, we'll drop like a stone and we'll have sold our souls to the devil in the eyes of football fans. It'd be strictly speaking true, but that's what you have to do or we go the way of Forest and Leeds.

Leeds is the epitome of senseless spending - more specifically, rich owners pulling off the plug.

After seeing how Hearts, Malaga, Pompey and co fail I couldn't believe that there are still people dreaming for a blue billionaire.

Surprised Man City finished as high as they did on that list.

A lot of people I've spoken to seem to have some form of 'respect' for them. Be it for 'knocking Utd off their perch' (yes, really!) of for the fact that they've come from nothing to a powerhouse of English football.

I can only assume the latter gives hope to them that there's a billionaire for all of us. Somewhere...

Whats wrong with Villa?

Was thinking the same thing! I've always had a soft spot for the Villans and now with Paul Lambert in there and his youthful policy, it's just one more reason to root for them.

That Benteke bloke is alright in my book too. (y)

Yeah normaly winners are hated by other sets of fans. But Liverpool haven't been dominating anything for years, there down the bottom just because they come accross as a ****ty club!

I didn't like Newcastle back then. I always liked Leeds actually (for my sins)

In my defense, they were quite good for a bit in the late 90's/early 00's and were quite fun to watch at times as well. Rush was playing for them though, so I lose points on that one

And I won't lie, I was rooting for Man United when they beat Bayern in the CL Final. English Team Vs a German Team, there's only one team I was siding with

Always hated Leeds. I grew up when Revie was their manager and they were the most cynical, dirty team. They were also the first team to make a habit of intimidating the ref by surrounding him when there was a contentious decision.

Brian Clough only lasted 44 days as Leeds manager because on day one he told the players to chuck all their winners medals in the bin because they'd won them through cheating. It was a stupid thing to do, fueled by his own arrogance, and instantly turned the players against him, but he basically said what fans all over the country thought.

Most people in their mid twenties like Newcastle because of Shearer.
