Late Subs

No, but they've all been given a sustained run in the team.

I remember not so long back when a certain Everton player wasn't getting in the team and certain people on here said he should move to sunderland.

He didn't, he bided his time and got his run in the team and is now one of our best players.

Billy has to get a decent extended run in the side to prove what he can do, cause he can't show off his skills sat on his arse.

Bily suffers from a confidence issue, not a playing time one. He was getting a fair chunk of time on the pitch earlier this year and he got worse every appearance. Bily needs a loan out to a championship club or a real and sustained chance to replace cahill during his absence (though I think that will be given to Rodwell).

Yep Moyes' subs are a joke and winds me up bigtime. Well as i said not long ago we need to all gather up at matches and make a song so moyes hears it! Like "Time for a sub, time for a sub time for some fu#*in subs!!" Or just simply sing a players name who's on the bench non stop or even 4-4-2 lol.

I don't think he's gonna listen to us when we write [Poor language removed] on the Officail site coz he probably doesn't even look at it! But at games i'm sure he will coz he'll have no choice coz we are loud mutha f~*#ers hah

He had a tough first season -- moving from the cushy russian league to the EPL is a big step up, in many ways -- but let's not kid ourselves, he bagged a load of assists and goals. What that shows is that he's got something. Moyes' job is to figure out where to play him, and how to play him, to get the most out of his ability.

Cahill was a CM when we signed him, remember? Good managers know how to utlise a player's strengths properly. And sitting on the bench, Bily can't exactly do too much. Nor can he really make an impact coming on in the 93rd minute.

He's only really played out wide for us, and he's not really a great wide man. His game is best suited, imo, to playing centrally; the Cahill role seems a good fit. So hopefully, with Cahill gone, bily can get a run in the team there. And if he does, I personally think he will shine. Maybe not straight away, but after a few games, I think he might be able to make his mark.

(sorry, I know this is still kinda off topic, but I wanted to make a last comment on this mini thread about Bily)

I agree Bily had a tough first season, but in fairness, he showed a lot more in the first season than he has this season. This season is what I was referring to when I said he got worse every appearance. Yes, as a sub, yes out of position, but man, our boy just looked scared to take the opportunities he did well with last year. that is why I think he needs a loan or a REAL run in the team.

By a real run, I mean Moyes telling him, you are going to start or get a minimum of 25 minutes for the next 5 games. And stick to it. If he is terrible one game, sub him off at 60, but make sure he gets back on the horse the next game. I'd love to see this happen, and with Cahill gone, we will never see a better chance than the very near future...

Exactly my thinking mate. And if it still doesn't work, then fair enough, put it down as one of those rare bad buys for Moyes.

I've said it before - David Moyes will not make a substitution before the 60 minute mark. He actually clock watches before bringing the man on, even if he's ready before the 60 minute mark. I've seen him do it.

It was doing this that resulted in Anichebe being sent off the other week - the sub was ready and waiting and Moyes was watching the clock. I'm convinced it's a superstition he has.
