Saw Michael last night, it’s an alright film, the actor who played Joe Jackson was the standout for me, weird how they just ignored Janet’s existence as well. Your never going to be able to make an authentic film about him when so much of his family is involved in making it and producing it and they left out so much about his life not just the allegations but more about his actual personality and relationships.

Superman II - Thought I'd give this a watch after watching Superman the other night. I love this film. The scenes Richard Donner directed before he was fired are definitely stronger. His scenes are a lot more colourful, have more depth, better lighting and wider angle shots, whereas the Richard Lester reshoots have more close-ups. Richard Lester did an amazing job though reworking the plot with the fact Marlon Brando couldn't be used and half the cast refused to return. The re-powering scene and how hopeless Clark is always gets me, he begins to leave feeling defeated and in the corner of his eye the crystal glows. With the eerie strings coming in with the Krypton/Arctic theme at the same time it's perfect. Great final battle and the pacing is spot on. Still think this is the gold standard for superhero films and sequels.

out of the blue 1947

Screwball comedy, virginia mayo is criminally under used, ann dvorak steals the show as a lush. Not a all time great, but I found it quite funny, it knows what it is and has a charm because of that. It's free on YouTube or tubi.

watched Hokum last night

as a big fan of the horror genre i decided to go and watch this film without knowing anything about it, so i had no clue what type of horror film this was going to be or what to expect

it's difficult to describe this film because there are several subplots which unfold during the film.

without giving too much away, the film is set in a hotel somewhere in a rural part of ireland and the main character is an american who I recognised and eventually figured out that it was Ben from Parks and Recreation.

the people who work in the hotel give this weird vibe, kinda like in Hot Fuzz.

the film itself isn't that scary however there are some suspenseful moments and weird moments.

i thought the film was just a bit weird, i would give it like a 6/10 but for some reason it is highly rated and has got a 7.4 rating on imdb
