Last Film You Watched

Did really enjoy it but felt it got a bit lost for around 20 mins or so near the end, haven't read book so can't compare.
you're right it does lose some traction around there, it's much better explained in the book but there's no way they were squeezing all that novel into a couple of hours

page after page of a man (albeit one with a horrific and disturbing bloodlust) obsessively trying to define himself through his music, his clothes, his girlfriends, his lifestyle and status ultimately just losing identity in a vacuous and unforgiving society

yeah the book's better

I know it's not right to ask in here but has anybody seen the new Helen Mirren film .... Woman in Gold.If so is it any good. The story line seems to be similar (by a long way) to The Monuments men.

Saw this yesterday and was very pleased in general! Helen is fantastic as always and Reynolds is his usual self, not good but not terrible. The "modern" scenes frankly are boring and tended to get in the way of the historical flashbacks which were brilliantly done and worth the price of the ticket alone! The lead from Orphan Black plays the young Helen and she is a ferociously talented actress. It has glaring weaknesses but if you are at all interested in the subject matter you should definitely see it. Hope this helps!

Plus the book has the scene with the rat and tube...

Watched - The Ice Man last night, film of the book about one of the most prolific Mafia hitmen - Richard Kulinksi.
Who was later accepted as a serial killer too.

The book is wonderful as it shows how he conceals his true nature and occupation from his loving family, with occasional glimpses of the real person when he snaps at home . The film was total rubbish despite a good cast. I'd get the book and swerve the film altogether.
