Yeah it was. It was before Verhoeven made Total Recall, which was decent, but then he went seedy with Basic Instinct and Showgirls.
Funnily enough, I saw that Total Recall was on tv about an hour ago. Noticed it was the re make so didn't bother. The original was ace.

Absolutely brilliant.
The music motif (?) in 'under siege' (1992) is very very close to that in 'the usual suspects' (1995). Clouseau time.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Avoid at all costs. Some good ideas in there but just terribly executed. Budget is far too big and they’ve got lost in spending it instead of writing a good story. Also very predictable.

Peter Jackson made some pretty good casting choices but what on earth was he thinking? Mind you he wanted Connery for Gandalf and Bowie for Elrond. Stuart Townsend got cast instead of Cage and was a douche on set so got fired but Viggo only took the role cos his kid was a nerd and made him change his mind from saying no. Perhaps PJ got lucky.
Stuart Townsend. The Ranger? Connery and Bowie? And coppola? Victoria Burrows was the casting director for LotR. She must have fallen over laughing at Jackson for these big ideas. It's still hard work overlooking Wood. Serkis Bean and Blanchett rescued that. Incredible.
