Watched it in 2 parts, much better than spectre... Surprised at ending, not been done before has it?
I suppose it is in line with having an overarching narrative that ties the whole Craig era together...
To me the one of the appeal of Bond is that he endures. You start turning him into a scarred veteran with a gammy knee and alimony to keep then you are turning it into a more character driven story rather than a spy action/thriller.
I guess that is the way the world is going now, with everything from Dark Knight trilogy to Mission Impossible to MCU. You can't just have a neat standalone adventure now, everything has to be part of a bigger story spanning several films.
I agree the ending is decent, and a nice send off for Craig that the other Bonds didn't get. But I'm still judging it on the staples that all the Bond movies have, and how good a standalone movie it is.
Although Craig is a bit too rugged as a Bond for me, I think he's done a great job in the role and his movies hold up very well with the exception of Quantum.
