Last Film You Watched

Watched a Documentary yesterday called 'King Rocker'. Probably not everyones' cup of tea, but I enjoyed it.

Comedian Stewart Lee and director Michael Cumming (Brass Eye, Toast of London), investigate a missing piece of punk history: Robert Lloyd, best known for fronting cult Birmingham bands The Prefects and The Nightingales, has survived under the radar for over four decades. But how, if at all, does Robert want to be remembered?

The anti-rockumentary King Rocker weaves the story of Birmingham’s undervalued underdog autodidact into that of the city’s forgotten public sculpture of King Kong, eschewing the celebrity interview and archive-raid approach for a free-associating bricolage of Indian food, bewildered chefs, vegetable gardening, prescription medicines, pop stardom and pop art

A Good Day To Die Hard (2013)

An utter turd of a film. They've taken everything that was likeable about the John McClane character, flushed it down the toilet, and turned him into an unsympathetic s$$hole.

Die Hard 9/10
Die Hard 2 7/10
Die Hard 3 6/10
Die Hard 4.0 7/10

Die Hard 5 3/10

I don’t understand why people waste their time on these sorts of extended franchises. Same as things like terminator. At best they will be a poor imitation of the original. They’re made to make money off the original’s success and therefore hardly any consideration is put into having any kind of coherent story.

Sometimes the follow up is as good as the original, if not better - Terminator Judgement Day / Aliens are two that spring to mind, but normally by the third film, things have run out of steam.

I can see why the studios do it though - safe and makes tons of money for them.

Well, like one my my favourite youtube film reviewers Decker Shado says.. there's a reason there isn't a Red Sonja 2.

Everyone is different but to me that's a low score for number 3. I would put that above 2 (& 4).

Totally right about 5 though, awful film.

Saw Red Rocket, the new one from Sean Baker (Tangerine, The Florida Project). Basically about an adult film star who leaves the business and LA, after which he returns to his Texas hometown and (sort of) tries to make a go of things. It's great fun, although I think the last 15 mins or so didn't quite work. Still, definitely worth seeing.

Robocop 2

Close to being fun garbage but needs a villain as strong as Clarence Boddicker and the OCP "Old Man" just doesn't work being reinvented as a poor man's [Poor language removed] Jones.

I have rather a soft spot for 'Cop 2. I think the Cain character is decent enough foil for Murphy, and the RoboCain is pretty awesome. Importantly, its got the same sort of OTT violence (although toned down from the first movie) and silliness where it doesn't take itself too seriously and is able to poke fun at itself.

Cain could be a good character but he isn't given enough screen-time. There's no scenes on a level with Clarence Boddiker such as the bank robbery chase, murdering Bob Morton or the scenes in OCP where the actor can get his teeth into the OTT villainy. Instead he delivers a few spooky religious sounding bits and then has any personality wiped to get some awful 90's CGI head action going on.

From what limited info is on Wikipedia it sounds like the creative element were steamrollered by the studio.
