As my DVD of the Richard Speck-inspired Naked Massacre (AKA Born for Hell) arrived with several large cracks which made the disc unreadable, I opted for the similarly-scuzzy Cold Light of Day (1989). Based on the Dennis Nilsen murders, it's poorly acted and just not very well made, yet it's strangely watchable. There's nothing very explicit here, but it manages to be far grubbier than the David Tennant ITV series, and it's the sort of film that makes you want to take a good shower. Despite its amateur-hour quality - I'm guessing the budget was £8.50 and a ball of twine - I think it's worth a look, especially if you have any interest in the case. That said, Tony (2009) covers similar ground with much more success.
