Ad astra. .... meh. Kinda got the impression the makers thought it was more special than what it is whilst making it. Seen most scenes done better in other films. Couple of good baboons in it mind.

The Farewell, which veers between USA and China as a young woman returns home to see her gran who is said to be dying although no one has told the old lady this. Apparently, it's a common tradition in China. You'd think the oldies would have cottoned on by now. There's an annoying twist at the end.
Anyway it was well filmed and acted with some good shots of high-rise provincial China but ultimately it was pretty schmaltzy stuff. Many critics are hoping it and other similar films will help to ease tensions between the two superpowers but I rather think it'll take more than this.

Recently watched I Am Mother which is in a similar vein. It's pretty unique and if you like sci-fi with some mystery its a decent watch.Thought it was the best " thinking " scfi since Moon tbh.

Got absolutely slated on various rating platforms, but if you enjoyed the original Men In Black, its quite like that, i enjoyed it - its not as comically bad as the rating will have you believe.
