Landon Donovan has made great things for the club during his 17 apps on loan (two seasons). But the question is; are we looking forward to get his services even this season?
Same thing with Tim Cahill who seems to have some expectations to join EFC during the AFL off season.
But do we need them –or one of them - this season?

I'd take Donovan, even if it was just another loan. Obviously a permanent transfer for a reasonable price would be good too but I wouldn't like it if we paid over the odds for him.

As for Cahill, no. I don't want him back. As much as I like Tim, he's not as good as he once was and our football really suffered when he was guaranteed a place in the 11. If he was used as an impact sub, he wouldn't be so bad I suppose but I don't think that would happen.

Neither on loan. I'd welcome Donovan if he could be arsed committing to us.

It's not totally in his hands though is it? If he played outside of the US we could just sign him if the deal could be made. In the US the league controls his destiny and any fee. He is the marquee US player who plays for one of the biggest, if not the biggest, franchises. Throw in international tournaments and the dates of the US season, it all gets complicated.

I think he wants to come to us (or at least wanted to) but it's a bit like being a teenager again for him - he wants to go out with his mates for a kick about, but his mum's making him stay in.

Donovan back on perm. in January or GTFO. On top of the fact he's a quality international and American, he also looks like Sheldon Cooper, which ticks many boxes for me.

Why would we take Cahill back? I thought the entire point was that he's blatantly been finished for the past two years at Premier League level!
