Transfer Rumour Lamine Kone

I'm still not sure if Mori won't be a late transfer out myself mate, based on absolutely nothing at all

You know I said exactly the same earlier.

I like the lad and think he's got all the attributes, just don't know if he's Koeman's 'type' of defender - even though like you I'm basing that off nothing at all haha

Curve ball - what if it's Cleverley he wants on a loan/for a kncok down price as part of allowing Kone to come to us, he actually played him a lot at United from memory

Cleverley is one of those typical Roberto players, on the move and who pop up keeping moves going. He has the energy to press, but Koeman looks like he wants plenty of power and pace. I can see him being expendable.

That'd take the fee down a bit though. Cleverley in this market would fetch about £8M.

think he could go one of two ways, turn into a really good player or just turn into a erratic player (collochini mk2), been linked not by anything serious though with a couple of Italian teams this summer - lazio and Roma and could easily see him switching to Roma late on.

Then again part of that is my forlorn hope we try to get Strootman in - which i reckon has 0% chance of happening as he's loved by the fans and the coach and really seems commited to them after they stuck with him through his rehab and don't think he'd move even if we offered him a silly deal - Chalk that one down to thinking Koeman would have this intense pull for Dutch players - whcih i think is just media talk and players dont really put much stock in who the manger is most times

With Joe Allen going for £15 million I would want a bit more than £8 million for Cleverly

Cleverley in a Moyes team i can see though easily mate, he did use him a lot for United when he had better options, and he is a 'similar' type player to Osman in some ways

If the lad doesn't play tomorrow then I guess he's ours imo but I still get the impression he was just out for a renewed contract

What I don't understand with this (potential) transfer is, if we've agreed a fee (as has been reported), why are we not allowed to speak to the player? Same with Bolasie too.

Apologies if this has been covered within this thread, or the Bolasie one.

Hi chaps. SUnderland fan. Kone from our perspective.
Seems Kone' agent McKay has done a lot of pot stirring over the past few days. Word is Kone wants to stay and Mckay wants to line his own pockets. I would say Kone is on something around £20-£25k per week having signed from Lorient six months ago WHere he was on less than £10k. Fair enough, low for premier league standards but the lad has played 15 (yes 15) premier league games. His offer is going to be £70k. As Moyes stated we have more pressing things going on at the moment than giving someone who is under contract for a further 4 years a new contract (wether offered or not) he's been told it's happening. MAybe things have gone too far and he does leave. £18m in the context of what we have seen so far looks good value for the buying side. He's a good player (15 games worth) A bit 50/50 over we want him to stay or get rid as his attitude is (like most players) money, money, money.

Cheers mate.

Slightly off topic, but thoughts on Moyes?
