Transfer Rumour Kyle Walker

I personally wouldn't want a player in the club if their only true motivation football related is to get in their national side for a tournament. If their prime motivation isn't playing and doing their best for Everton I hope Moyes and Co. stay well away from such sorts.
That would go hand in hand. They play hard and play well to get into the world cup squad then that would benefit everton. Motivation comes in many form. I believe Seamus plays hard for Everton. There are countless players who play hard to keep a position in the starting 11, play hard to get a transfer to the prem or to a UCL team, play hard to get into the national team. I dont really care what motivates them as long as they work hard and play well.

Kyle Walker isnt going to come here and try to make a career out of it, he's 35. I dont think we are getting many players that are coming here currently in expectations of winning trophies. If he comes here and works hard to get into the national team thats fine by me.

Could easily stay at City, or go to Saudi/US if it was just about the money. If he ends up at Everton it’s because he wants to play in the World Cup and be playing every week in the PL. We could get one last good season out of him and potentially develop a younger right back for the long term if we can also shift Patterson if Moyes decides he wants him out.

I don't disagree, many of our players in recent years have been below average, hence us consistently finishing in the bottom half of the table That doesn't change the fact that Tarkowski is, in the grand scheme of things, a fairly average player at this level. It's not a criticism of him, simply a realistic assessment of what he is.
Yes just a difference of opinion.

We've been here plenty of times before re' signing an older player (on significant wages). Last season I was against signing Willian and as it turned out he played 10 games with no goals and no assists whilst Fulham had a decent season.

For every Richard Gough we get half a dozen Fabian Delphs - so I'd steer clear of Walker and buy a young, promising right back from abroad/Championship. We've got to cut out buying has beens.

I dont pay much attention to the england national team, but does he have a shot at the 2026 squad? Could he be playing to prove himself? Thats the only reason I was for bringing in Grealish, if they have some incentive to play every match and play well.

He just played against Senegal around 10 days ago and is on 96 caps. I'm sure most would think he wants to get to 100 caps and with that level of experience Tuchel would probably bring him to the world cup next year.

He just needs to keep his place for 12months and for that must perform at club level. Both Grealish and Walker are going to need to perform next season to be on the plane.

I dont think motivation is an issue and we have O'Brien anyway so its not like we can become worse as he could play there.

We could say similar about other positions.

As i posted before, if the transfer budget was £20mil for 2 full backs then also if the budget at CM was e.g £25mil.

Would you rather have 2 loans/frees at full back for a season with a £45mil top young player at CM or spread across 3 positions?

The only problem with this reasoning is what happens when after getting through half a season and still not being guaranteed a place in the World Cup squad ?
Do such former Billy big b’s still give a flying one about Everton when their World Cup dreams fade?
I’m not so sure .

If we are only signing players who want to play for Everton we could be struggling for numbers or quality sadly.
