I really don't think we're gonna blink with this.

Yeh, it's dead important to have an alternative lined up, that much is certain.

But, as long as that alternative is lined up, we can realistically hold firm for Zouma until the closing days. We don't have to worry about him settling in, and he'll have had a full pre-season. We're in a good position and there's no massive rush (as long as there's a back up there).

Yeah I think this one could realistically go down to the wire

I’m not too bothered if it does, he came in on deadline day last year and we had a pretty decent start to the season, this time he’ll be match fit thanks to Chelsea and familiar with our players, Digne on his left, Keane to the right, Pickford between the sticks. People are worrying that we’ll end up with a last minute panic buy but forget that’s exactly what Zouma was, if that’s a Brands panick but then we’ll be fine, I suspect Marcel doesn’t do panicking though and will have alternative deals ready to push through if required.

As much as I liked Zouma, what was the actual point in signing Mina if we are going after this guy permanently?

Or is this an admission that Mina isn’t going to cut it?

We can’t be splashing 30m+ on centre backs to sit them on the bench.

My take was that we brought Zouma in until Mina had adapted.

We probably need 3 senior capable CB for 2 CB positions due to injury, form and rotation etc throughout the season. There are like 45 games there. Doubt Holgate can be 3rd choice at this point.

Well Silva has spoken about three at the back more than once, so that could be a factor

There's also the point as well that having proper competition for each position is good for squad depth

Mina was a bit of a sick note last season, He missed 10 games I rate him but can't be trusted to be fit for most games like big Michael Keane and Zouma were.

I like Zouma but some are making out he is essential to us, hes good and a great prospect but he's no VVD.
I would of liked him to stay but feel because he enjoyed being here so much, and his personality turned him into a fans favourite, some are taken in by him.
For all we know Silva and Brands might not be as sold on him as we are.
Silva has been quoted as saying he wants to sign Zouma
