Throwing a wild one out there - Instagram post shows his boots stitched with Zouma 5 - Jorginho is 5 at Chelsea ... obviously reading a lot into it - but wouldn’t his boots have his Chelsea number

I think you're all romanticising about him far too much. For 40m we could get a much, much better defender. He was one half of a defence that just about finished 8th, and was a joke for almost half a season. He has great potential that's for sure, and he did build up a decent partnership with Keane, but I think there is better value to be had elsewhere. That said, wouldn't be gutted if we signed him.

It really speaks to how well Keane commanded the back line that both Kurt and Mina excelled with him in a back 4. Zouma doesn’t have a seem to have a partnership with any of the Chelsea guys atm.

I think he realizes the writing is on the wall. I don’t hold it against Kurt for trying to make it at Chelsea, but it doesn’t look like it is going to happen there for him. Hopefully he makes his mind up soon and he can either join us or allow us to move on.

Who else is out there though with premier league experience who would come to Everton and improve us? I've only seen us linked with Phil Jones and Chris Smalling this summer.
Is the Newcastle defender we were linked with last summer available and any good?
