Kostas Monolas

So has Duffy, and he has a million times more experience in England than Manolas.

I'm all up for Greeks in Ebepton, but if he's not a first teamer - no thanks, really.

Coleman wasn't a first teamer till injuries forced Moyes to give him a run. The same could be said about Duffy. What I don't understand is why Rodwell's name in never mentioned. Baring injury his name should be thrown in the hat.

As for Manolas, he has a lot going for him but would initally struggle with the pace of the premiership and the fact that he is on the skinny side.

I've seen Manolas play a lot and for 300k you'd role the dice. The boy can tackle and is very calm on the ball and can pass it out of defence.

After losing Mustafi we could do with another player of similar age to Duffy to come in.

Then we'll have Heitinga/Jags/Yobo/Distin/Duffy/Manalos

So potentially we can move on 2 older players.

Think this is one of those cases where we could miss out longer term due to the financial constraints. Moyes obviously fancies him as one for the future, but he probably can't afford to use a large chunk of his budget on someone who can't come in and make a difference straight away. At least he seems to have his priorities right.

If it's less than a million, I got now problem with Manolas coming in if, in the case he doesn't pan out, he can be sold at break even or better. He's 20 FFS and that's what Moyes is forced to do - buy young and cheap and hope his scouting was good. There just aren't going to be big name signings until Moyes sells some of the Queen's jewels. Until then, it's diamonds in the rough and big club castoffs.

For those of you that hate the phrase, it is what it is.

Sort of signings we should be going for in my opinion. We don't have the money to buy established stars, so we have to look at unproven youngsters. Problem comes if they all suck though

Sky Sports News Sources believe us to be in advanced negotiations with AEK believed to be about £500k ... Dharmesh has just told me.

BBC's Simon Austin on Twitter (@bbcsport_simon) reporting that a 500k fee has been agreed. Deal is on standby, depending how much cash left from Jelavic

Everton have secured a deal for Greek defender Kostas Manolas, the club confident Jelavic will be next

I think this buy must be all about the sell on. Moyes wont trust him - look at Vellios.. There is too much politics at Everton in the selections and no long term building projects/plan.

I think this transfer is about him riding the bench for a year and you guys selling him on in the summer/winter.
