Kone

I think the logic is that Vic would have been third choice behind Lukaku and Jelavic for the lone striker role whereas Kone is more versatile. He can play between the lines and compliment a target man. Anichebe has played 187 minutes for West Brom and hasn't found the net yet. Maybe Martinez wanted a bit more experience and guile in his forward line too considering that Anichebe is 25, Lukaku is 20 and Vellios is 21.

erm what! did you honestly just say that?

Yeah, Vic is big and burly whereas Kone is more nimble and craftier, which contrasts better with Lukaku. I've just been watching the 'welcome to Everton' video of his goals. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3rA3nZarTY He gets some pretty rough treatment but just rides the challenges rather than Vic, who would hit the deck, beckon to the bench and then spend 3 weeks on the treatment table.

You missed off give someone a push.

And stand in front of the keeper and then waste our corners.

Kone looks to be a confident finisher too. He can lash a ball and he's composed enough to dink the 'keeper. Vic very often looked worried to me when he was bearing down on goal and, earlier in his career especially, I think that he went down rather than risk missing. I feel that Arouna has more natural killer instinct.

If you're calling Kone 'crafty' then safe to say you haven't seen him play....

Kone is completely different to what we had/have when Martinez signed him. Moving into a passing phylosphy he offered what jelavic and Vic didn't. He can also play off another striker if needs be, because yes he will drop between the lines.

I said when we signed him, I was sure RM had signed him with the view of being jelavic's or Vic's replacement but not as the answer to be our No.1 striker moving forward. I still believe this is the case.

Kone is a good player and in time will prove it.
But , then there will be somebody else to pick on, it's the way for some so-called supporters.
At least, the pick on McCarthy crusade didn't last very long.

The fact that McCarthy won everyone over so quick has hurt old Kone. He's now got a fair few folk lining up to have their "I called him gash first/most often/ in the most witty manner." moment. They won't give that up easy. It is the natural order of GOT.

Here we go! Crafty as in sly or sneaky rather than 'creatively expressive'. He'll rob defenders, hussle them and use any body part he can to bundle the ball over the line.

Agreed. He's a clever player and he's quite unorthodox. He's more of a poacher than a target man but I think he can do a bit of everything. He likes to defend from the front, he's quick, he's got a very good shot on him and he can head the ball. He could play with a partner or by himself if we needed him to.
