Dave.
I think they may be trying to toughen Barkley up a little. A professional footballer needs a thick skin and a belief in their own ability.
Barkley seems to lack those qualities and I think the previous manager used positivity and praise to keep his spirits and confidence up.
Koeman seems to taking a different tack , Barkley is now an experienced premiership player and an international footballer and needs to take the responsibility that is expected of him on his shoulders.
I think it has not fully dawned on Barkley that he is no longer a talented youngster but is an experienced pro.
Yes, good point. And what did that get? It got a youngster becoming an England regular and his form last season with 8 goals and 8 assists was his best thus far in an Everton jersey.

Instead of learning that a player like Barkley responds to a bit of flannel and keeping that going the manager chooses rather to demolish him in public and hold up some bogus reason that he hadn't been at the races up to that point which was absolute BS.

He (Koeman) wants a different type of player than Barkley and he'll get rid as soon as possible for a big a price as possible, imo.

As far as I'm concerned Barkley has proven his worth as an Everton player more than Koeman has proven his worth as a manager yet. So I know where my loyalties lie on this issue.

You dont ever criticise individuals in football and betray their trust. EVER.

They might do it in Holland but we dont here by and large.

Didn't see that interview mate. Don't like Carragher so cba watching it. If that's what he said well I don't really agree with it either to be honest. At the time I thought it was just a case of him answering questions put to him honestly, and that may well still be the case tbf. I recall him getting annoyed with reporters who kept on pressing him on the subject of Ross, which I thought was good.

What's this picture from twitter. I'm intrigued now. Every post I've seen, apart from the photo's of Debbie, have all been boring.

Is that what has you so riled? An honest manager. Not one bit of any of the above is inaccurate, he even said he can't lie as his body language gives him away.

It's worth noting to all with open minds on Koeman, that Barkley has started the last 3 league games since the Sunderland game, he's also made him a matchday captain this year.

I dont mind honesty. I do mind inconsistency. Where was the straight talking over Lukaku when he couldn't score early in the season?

Nowhere.

He picks his mark, just as a bully does.

Different players require different motivation David.

Unlike our previous Manager Koeman has a history of getting the best out of his players.

I forgot you spent every second with the two of them listening in to there every conversation.

The point is that if he was criticised by Koeman privately, Lukaku wasn't called out in public to the media. That's what happened with Barkley.
