Kudos to them for getting themselves all this exposure. They'll have done wonders for themselves that they'd never have managed if they where being judged strictly on actual talent. They are objectively
dreadful.
I dunno. You had the 1975 headlining the Friday and they sound like utterly bland pub rock duff music to me.
Kneecap are not my cup of tea by any stretch and their profile has been massively boosted but many people clearly like their music for whatever reason.

Well done for either ending Glastonbury or for taking it off the BBC.

The BBC can't have it if glasto want it to become a political festival.

The sets been pulled from iPlayer now and both are under investigation from the Plod
Politics is as part of music as much today as it’s always been.

political viewpoint is often the artistic driving force behind so many performers and any governmental or state media attempt to censor and restrict these type of performances should be treated with contempt and disdain.

God knows what the govt and the beeb would have made of Crass today

Become?

It's been sponsored by CND since 1981, there's a big CND logo on the top of the Pyramid Srage, and there's an entire stage devoted to political activist talks, called the "Left Field". They had Jeremy Corbyn give a speech in 2017...

Haha Crass were the real deal. They managed to upset just about everyone back then, let alone now.

MI5 kept a file on them and they did stuff like this https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thatchergate

For anyone who didn't know.

In regard to Bob Vylan, I mentioned earlier in the Glastonbury thread, they have plenty of lyrics that are arguably as, if not more, controversial than the death to the IDF chants (I joined in on that by the way, so should I be expecting the plod to rock up to my place? )

No one picked up or condemned any of that though. Just the anti-IDF stuff.

Funny that…

100%

Coming to kneecap a bit late here, and expecting a backlash on this.

Obviously speaking out against Israel and IDF is all fine, but what’s the score with them apparently (previously) chanting ‘Up Hammas’ and ‘Up Hezbollah’? That’s not ideal, no?

Not ideal. But they're kids pushing buttons. 30 years ago theyd have probably shouted "Up the Ra".

But post 2000 things like that are deemed a part of the "terrorism act" the police have to "look into"

If only they had showed Kneecap live but overdubbed their lyrics spoken by an actor like they used to do with Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness.

That would have made me chuckle no end…surprised no-one at the BBC thought about that!
Stephen Rea is still available and is also a gaeilgeoir. But he marched for human and civil rights so unemployable by the BBC just not Jimmy enough.

Yeah, as I said I haven’t looked into it at all, but the ‘taken out of context’ line sounded a bit PR management

Seemed more likely to me that it was a bit of button pushing / p!ss taking / sh!t posting type thing. But is a sketchy topic to be dancing around, and leaves you open to attack.
