Hopefully he'll be a disaster of astronomical proportions but I think he's gonna do better than the last 3 managers they've had if I'm honest.

The work Klopp did in Germany was outstanding.

Lets not take that away from him.

But the Prem isnt Germany and no way on Earth will he be able to do the same here.

Hes a good manager and they will probably win stuff, but their entire squad is full of bang average and downright utterly rubbish players, not even SAF could polish that turd.

I have been thinking about what sort of appointment would really be a statement from Liverpool.

Objectively on the face of it he is an excellent manager. You don't win titles without being that. He is a massive upgrade on what they had, but of a similar mould. The problem for Liverpool are a club though, is the malaise goes deeper than the manager.

Liverpool's biggest weakness is their recruitment. Over a decade plus period it would be hard to argue that they have got value for money when signing the majority of players. Their big advantage is it's a club steeped in tradition that if you get it right should allow you to win things.

2013/14 was a freak season. He had a very good player in Suarez playing out of his skin abley backed up by Sturridge. That was always going to mess up eventually and they were lucky they didn't get caught out earlier in the season. Had the season had another 10 games I'm not sure they'd have even finish top 4.

They were closest to achieving success for me under Benitez. European Cup finals and consistently challenging at the top of the league. Under Benitez they didn't mess around with youth development or moneyball tactics, they bought good experienced players often at a high cost. I am glad they are not returning to that model.

What's worrying for Liverpool is, I wonder if under the current owners they will ever move back to that way of operating.

I think for the most part a good proportion of Evertonians are a bit nervous that those nobheads have actually managed to bring in a decent European name as their manager. Yes there is no guarantee that he will be a success but reading between the lines of some of these posts, i think the majority of us are a tad nervous this scruffy get will turn it around.

I personally think he is an excellent manager and i'm not as smug as i was this time last week thats for sure.

he is the returning messiah - the vermin cult will be fapping furiously now, and the skt/bt pundits will be needing a mop and bucket in the studios. I will be avoiding any televised football shows for a while

Clipperty clop, hope he flops.

There's some RS fans in the staff at my place. When i said to them I'd be surprised someone as good as Klopp would go to a selling club like the RS, they fumed ... but couldn't comment back, cos they know it's true. Speechless.

Made my day.

I'm not nervous of that, he will turn it around for them. But what's meant by 'turning it' is up for debate. He'll push the CL spots closer than the no mark ever really could (leaving Suarez's efforts aside) on a regular basis. But that's about it.

He'll have to be there for about 7 years if he wants to do more than that. But in 7 years time I expect him to be long gone.

He is seriously out of his comfort zone now over here in this league. Let's see how he does in the PL. I doubt he'll master it myself.
