2025/26 Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Not pulled up any trees yet but perhaps to be expected in the circumstances. That being said he still looks very tidy and treats the ball properly, which we've lacked for some time.

Also the work rate is an important facet to his game which most casual fans don't pick up on, but he presses with intensity, covers a lot of ground, and is tenacious off the ball and in the tackle

this lad gives me Paul Bracewell vibes, looks to be the type who mostly flies under the radar, but quickly becomes integral to the side. I think the rest of the team already look to him as the lynchpin, so as he grows into the role in the team I think we will see more and more quality out of this lad.

I recorded the match yesterday and after I got home from the game last night, I watched it back (well, most of it anyway). On commentary they mentioned that Brighton had tried to sign KDH twice last season. This surprised me, but equally suddenly made me look at him a bit differently. Brighton, other than Liverpool, are the best in the transfer market IMO - their data-driven approach seems to pull gems out of everywhere, so for them to go after him twice makes me think there must be something there I hadn't really seen or appreciated when I'd watched him before.

Fwiw yesterday I thought there was some good stuff, but equally he looked a little bit lightweight at times, particularly in the first half.

Difficult to work out exactly what the system was because defensively we shape as a 442 and he's the one next to Barry/Beto but I think it was 433 rather than 4231 in possession for most of the game yesterday, with KDH being the left-sided number 8 - this is the role he prefers apparently, but was surprised to see Moyes go with this as he usually prefers a player off the front man
